Description
I used to think that there is only one personification of death in ancient Greek mythology, but as I recently found out, Thanatos isn’t the only one. In addition to him, there are two other gods of death, and one of them is Moros.
unlike Thanatos, who comes to those who die of a silent natural death, Moros epitomizes a painful violent death. It is he who observes all the bloody executions, suicides, murders and terrible accidents. so, I painted on his face the part of horror that he constantly has to see. human cruelty has distorted his face, and he’s always anxious. Moros is the brother of Thanatos, Hypnos and other children of Nyx, but the goddess of the night bore him by herself, meaning he has no father. so I wanted to make him a kind of anxious male version of Nyx herself. from her, he took over all the genes and got everything he has, so they look a lot alike. As a weapon, he uses sickles whose alternative meaning refers to the reaping of souls. They are also an attribute of death, as well as a scythe. In addition, the shape of the sickle resembles the form of the moon, the constant symbol of his mother, the night. Moros is the second-busiest god of death after Thanatos, for there is no limit to the cruelty of man. they’re both laborers, because except for inveterate workaholics, no one else in their right mind would take on such a lot of work. so now we have sad goth-boy Thanatos and sad emo-boy Moros
