I got an e-mail yesterday. It was written in French by David FullMetalArt so I had it translated! The internet is an amazing thing!

Looking over the gallery of student work, everyone every year produces a nice wide variety of drawings. They have produced so many that I have actually forgotten a lot of them! That's why having some sort of record is important and good for the students. Its nice to see that artistic growth for those who hang with me over the years.
Book Review: The Last Cherry BlossomI was given a copy of The Last Cherry Blossom(2016) by the author Kathleen Burkinshaw. A chapter book for ages 11 and up. The story is about the time her mother, Yuriko, grew up in Japan during World War II, and survived the bombing of Hiroshima.
At first a very sweet story that paints a lovely picture of how a family lived. The novel gives an important perspective of Japanese citizens at the time of the war. The book talked about the propaganda, the banishing of Western influences, the rationing of food, and surrendering all kinds of metal objects to be melted for making planes and other war stuff. From the sweet and innocent perspective of children, the war, and the banishing of things like American Jazz bewildered the girls. How could people who make such nice things be evil? They were as much unknowing victims & participants as ordinary citizens.

Visiting DA Headquarters
Two weeks ago, I was sent an invitation by DeviantArt HQ to visit them so they could interview me. We set the date and time for yesterday afternoon. They gave me a tour of the whole place. The place is beautiful, colorful, fun, and exciting space to be in. The view of Hollywood and Los Angeles from the office windows is spectacular. I didn't take photos of the insides because there are things they are developing that I promised not to reveal until they happen. Just as a precaution, I left my phone inside my bag, but you can see the photos I did take below.
They asked me about how I use their website. By showing them how I use it, I ended up talking about my education and work background because the site is very useful for holding and sharing my artwork, projects, drawing lessons, and student artwork. I told them how I got into blogging about art, art education, jobs and careers. After that they wanted my opinion about the new

About The Intrepids NovelThis is something I want to share with my students:
Forword, Biography, & Introduction
This story has its own story that began 18 years ago.
Back in the summer of 2000, I was interning at Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank. I was making copies of some drawings I completed for a Hey Arnold! project on a copy machine in the hallway. Brian Mark, the background layout supervisor who guided and supervised my work, was on his way to something.
We said a quick hello as he passed by, but then he paused in his tracks. He turned around and said to me “You are one of those people who are going to have their own tv show someday.” He then turned and continued on his way.
It blew my mind that he saw that in me. Before that moment, I was content to the idea of quietly drawing in a little cubicle until the day I die. What he said gave me so much to think about. He planted a seed in my mind. In times of hardship it would not die but continued to grow. It kept me going by giving me

Great job everyone!
Book Review: The Underground RailroadBack in November, I signed up to participate to be a book reviewer for the Multicultural Chidren’s Book Day celebration. I received The Underground Railroad: Navigate the Journey from Slavery to Freedom by Judy Dodge Cummings, Published in 2017 by Nomad Press.
This is actually designed to be a classroom textbook for students ages 9-12. The book is 122 pages long. It contains 20 content related activities along with glossary and index. Many of the pages have a list of important vocabulary words to know in order to understand the text. Within the history text are pictures, charts, maps and QR code internet links to additional related content.
This book points out important details about the practice of slavery in its many different forms in other countries. It talks about how much more oppressive it was compared to those other forms of slavery. In the opening chapter it talked
Cassini Grand Finale The Cassini spacecraft vaporized in the upper atmosphere of Saturn early Friday morning. I think it is important to mark its passing here. I stood close to the towering golden spacecraft, with the massive parabolic antennae dish, when I was in high school during a JPL Open House. It launched October 1997, right when I started college. All these years I have been getting glimpses of the new images and discoveries found. Having that small personal connection makes me proud, excited and sad. Space, aviation, curiosity and exploration is in our blood. We are engaged in the scientific process when we ask questions and look for the answers ourselves.
This was their goodbye video. It is so pretty and sad at the same time!
Here is the 1 hour PBS NOVA show about the Cassini mission and all its discoveries:
Seth Macfarlane I talk about him all the time to my classroom students because he is one of the most prominent people working in animation, tv and film in the US. He, like me, started out drawing cartoons and went on to attend art school to study animation. Its pretty wild to see all the work he has done and is doing now. If you don't know who he is by now, you should. He has done a lot of interviews. He gives insightful panel talks at industry conventions. May this be the first of many internet videos you watch about him(if you haven't already).

Current project he's working on airs this Sunday. If you can't work on the real Star Trek, then you make a Star Trek of your own, dammit!

Quick Tips for Improving Your WritingThis guide is for people who are trying to become better writers (those who want to get published). This is not for people who write only to express themselves; while thats a valid reason to write, this is not the guide for them.
This is long, but I call this 'quick tips' because they're a distillation of what I've learned in the last couple of years.
I. Non-writing steps
Read. Read poetry, read novels, read non-fiction. Read newspapers. Read non-fiction. Read about different time periods. Read literary theory and criticism. Read critiques other people have left on writing on dA. Read some prose and all poetry out loud and listen to the effects of sound. The more you read, the more you will know, and the more you will notice clichés, which will make it easier to avoid them.
Pay attention in English class. A bad teacher is no excuse to sl
