Rainbow girl by diamondie Rainbow girl by diamondie
I really enjoyed Helsinki pride this year again, even though it was shadowed by the terrorist attack that happened right in front of my eyes. Luckily I wasn't hit too badly by the gas and no one got seriously injured, but some of the victims were babies. Sickening. The aftermath has been even worse than the actual attack (e.g. loads of people on the net voicing support for the attack).

Still looking at my photos reminds me that prides are a celebration of diversity, life and love. This is my favorite picture from this year. The girl was just so beautiful and incredibly photogenic and the rainbow lollipop, of course, completes the picture.

Erittäin hienoja otoksia, tämä ja nuo loput. Kuvasimme näköjään paljon samoja ihmisiä, vaikkakin minä hieman köpsemmin. :)

We've come so far in a few decades, the rubber-band effect perhaps... Beautiful pic.
Been reading up on some Malay history, there are legend stories of a princess dressing up as a man and having adventure and romance with girls, but the stories are no longer taught in schools... I have the impression many older societies had much more lenient attitudes than those of modern civilizations, sad to say. No matter, change and conflict of ideas are always with us. Heard also of some scifi writer getting blacklisted in the US for expanding on the already much played theme of gender roles in the future, getting labeled as outright pornography.. One step forward two steps backward sometimes is the feeling. I understand how a lot of conservatives want to freezeframe time to some utopia that never existed, but eading books and talking openly about issues seem to be unacceptable, as they threaten their fantasy worlds of goosestepping righteousness. I would admit many fears myself of xenophobia in finland, even in my own mind I sometimes wish things would slow down a bit and let society adjust to the changes happening, but time stops for no one.
