This is, I believe, the first non-haiku/senryu poem I have finished since 2005 or 2006. I've been working on it for about 5-6 months (even my haiku often take several months to finish.
I don't usually like to explain my poetry, but I think this piece warrants a little explanation. As I've been struggling with life-threatening health problems and other issues, such as being stranded thousands of kilometers from home (and I'm not talking about the ash cloud here), often the only reason I find to hang on is my books. First my Twitter book, then my novel and my medical textbook etc... And while I love writing books and it's what I've wanted to do since I was five, this is how it sometimes feels to build your life on them.
