Perhaps this is best read with some music, like Michael Myers' theme song. The title of this journal comes from a recent trend that started during my post grad school days
; those associated with me seem to get a part of their left side injured. To describe this story, I won't disclose my classmates' full names, but they have pretty common names anyway.
It started with my seatmate, Henry, from my first semester (Spring 2017); he injured his left knee because someone landed on him wrong so he was on crutches for the rest of the semester. 2 semesters later (Fall 2018) someone named John twisted his left ankle because John was an idiot. Supposedly this is the "curse of the furniture brothers" because it seems like new students on the school's furniture service seem to get a debilitating injury when they first get assigned. But I noticed something else might be going on when I saw other students' injuries, here's a list of them:
- Someone who went to my church in South California injured his left shoulder playing tennis in Spring 2017
- Tommy, one of my seatmates and service mates injured his left shoulder Spring 2017
- Austin, another recurring seatmate of mine injured his left wrist from weightlifting during Fall 2018
- Crystal, my outreach service mate, twisted her ankle playing the most dangerous sport in my school; ultimate frisbee. This happened Spring 2018
- Adam, my seatmate in Spring 2018, injured his left shoulder.
- Kevin, a kid who went to my church injured his left wrist in Spring 2018
- I think another of my seatmates, Daniel, might've injured something on his left side as well.
I'm starting to think these strings of injuries didn't start with Henry and aren't limited to the furniture people, but they are connected to me; Henry was my seatmate in Fall 2017 and John is in the school martial arts club I started. I believe the curse may have actually started with when I injured my left shoulder when I landed wrong while jumping out of a tree (I try to parkour sometimes). It was either that or when I twisted my left ankle 3 times while running down a mountainside; we had to rush and the path was rocky.
Now I'll mention some creepier instances. Enoch, a classmate of mine who graduated earlier than me injured his left hand when he went to Boston for school while I completed my final semester; he was my seatmate in Spring 2017. I learned that time and distance don't make people immune to the curse. Just today, there's another instance; DA artist xinillus
injured her left knee while jumping on rocks at a beach (I don't think it's just because I'm a demon hunter). What's my connection to her? I watch her on DA and I'm in her discord server: discord.io/xinillus
What can we learn from this? Time, distance, being an in person friend, an online contact only, knowing me for a short time, long time, moving, going to another school, etc will not keep you safe from the curse. Everyone is susceptible. Those who watch me on DA, watch your left sides. To those who I watch and may never get this message, I'll look out for your health updates. To any online friends, if I missed your left sided injuries, feel free to let me know so I can add them to the list.
injured her left finger multiple years ago. Even though most her injuries are on her right side, perhaps we can say you can get injured even before you get to know me.
Also from xinillus' Discord: the admin bruise her elbow from scootering and cut her left foot after falling from the bed; she was distracted from staring at a balloon. She mostly injures her right side though.
