Just got back from a week on the road to Estes Park, CO.  Actually Rocky Mtn. National Park. I went to photograph the Elk down from the mountians for their annual Rut.  I love the sound of the bull bugleing.  Had some pretty crappy weather.. No sun while the elk were around.  Too much rain, but all in all it was still a great trip.

I headed down into the LaCrosse, WI. area after a snowy owl that had been reported by a friend of mine.  Got lucky and found him about where he had last been seen.  I got some ok shots , I was walking back to my suv/hide and he came off the barn roof and landed 30 ft. behind me and grabbed this field mouse.  All I could do was turn and shoot. I had the 560mm lens set up for shooting from the suv, and never thought he would ever come close enough to be too close for my setup.. Best laid plans etc.  Oh well,  this shot is my Jan 9th shot for the year because its so unique.

Finally two days of sun... so off to crex for the annual sandhill crane migration.  Are they fun to watch come in at sundown and leave again just after sunrise.  Temps. in the low 30's this morning, but a nice clear sunrise, and a mostly full moon out for a couple of hours.. Fun stuff. Some thin ice on the calm shallow water areas, so by this time next week it will likely be iced over, and the birds headed further south and west.

You have a nice gallery.
I love your gallery!  You do some of the finest work.  People occationally ask me - ever thought of working for Nat Geo?  Then I think of your work (and others on this site) and have to say - there are so many that are so much better than I.

Shining example of great nature photography!
How do I get in touch with you, would like to use you photos if possible

Cool pictures. What exactly is a "creative speller"? Lolz.
Your elk photography is very amazing! I know this is professional work and not stock photography, so I was wondering if I could reference some of your photos for drawing and paintings? I don't do any photo manip aert or digital art. Thought I would ask!!
I was just wondering if you could take a few minutes of your time to help show support for my new page I've started for my photography.

likes and opinions are very (very) welcome :)

likes will be given back :D
