So it's apparently been over a year since I made a journal post...
Good news: I graduated
Bad news: It's ridiculously hard to find a design/illustration job...
But I am determined! Also looking into doing a mentorship program that's run by people actually in the illustration industry to help build portfolios and network etc. That is my ultimate goal for the year.
Also thank you for the birthday wishes! I'm not on DA as much as I used to be so it took me a while to see them but I didn't forget! I'm just officially old now... hahahaha.
Here's hoping 2016 is kind to everyone!

Fall semester started, it's fun so far!
Also haven't been active here much, however I made myself a nifty new artblog on tumblr, so if you like my art go check it out! Gonna try and post as much as I can on there first, then posting here second. [right now I am just going through a little "backlog" of recent works I like, then onto new pieces!]
So yeah, that's pretty much it. Seems everyone is going the tumblr route, haha. But give my artblog a follow, if'n ya like! Makes me happy to know people appreciate my sometimes silly artworks

Fall semester in two weeks.
Graduate in the Spring of 2015.
Hopefully can land a graphic arts/design job during this time so i am not entirely screwed after graduating.
Presuming said job can be acquired sooner rather than later, and it is a livable wage, will realistically need to relocate.
Hopefully would like to stay in the greater Philly area but one has to go where the jobs are. Assuming there are jobs out there.
May expand earned degree and attend art school. Also may get vocational degree in other fields as a safety net.
Got a lot to do, and hoping something finally works out.
It'd be nice for once.
Even if it is just once...

Not a lot of "art" from me lately... I apologize. Trying to regain my muse is tough, haha.
HOWEVER! I AM still experimenting with creative endeavors, I just haven't done anything show worthy yet. Getting my "crafty" side going is kinda fun, and a lil' intimidating!
Ultimately I am going to start making plushies, and potentially magnets and such. if it works out, I may try selling them... the real question is, would anyone be interested? haha... xB

I can't say 2012 was that great a year for me. I was struggling with a lot, fought some major inner demons/personal woes, dealt with an insane superstorm....
But this year? I am stronger. I am wiser. I am more resilient.
no more moping about, no more negativity. I have finally accepted my abilities and skills as an artist and as a person. Are they refined? No. Are they polished and professional level? No. Will they ever be? Who knows! But that unrefined, sketchy, off kilter style and "out of left field" humor is who I am. I can only be myself, I can't be anyone else, so trying to feverishly compare myself to others, scolding myself on "not being good enough", treating my abilities and downtime as "a job" and not something for myself is useless.
I am done with the negativity, I have fought my demons. I may have defeated them, I may not. But at the very least I have beaten them back; tails between their legs, and I will keep them back. It's high time I get serious with my art, writing, and self again. Give myself a real project to focus on. And most importantly? Have fun while doing it again. My ability and talent may not be "that great", but it's mine. No one can take it from me, and I should cherish it and work on it and have fun with it. It's my time to shine, and even if the world doesn't notice or care... I know damn well I have very important people in my life that do. And I love them for it and would never trade them for the world. ♥
2012 kicked my ass, so it's only fair I kick 2013's ass. Here's to a great year.

Oops. I should update this more frequently!
Sorry for not really being around, been a crazy couple months for me.
Yes, I live in New Jersey, specifically one of the more harder hit areas of New jersey when Superstorm Sandy steamrolled through. I am alright, we were without power for 6 days and only had a tree collapse in our driveway [missed the house, came down during the dumb nor'easter after Sandy. heh.] but it was pretty crazy! So many people I know lost their homes... ugh. ><;
While the storms were going on, my harddrive and monitor to my PC died, so I was without a PC for a while. I was using my Macbook as a backup until I got my PC back, yay for laptops and makeshift setups! Right now I am using my TV as a monitor until I can get a real monitor again. Everything is HUGE... so crazy... Also luckily got to save most of what was on my old HDD thanks to my awesome cousin, so I am very grateful for that!
Also I have been busy juggling college + work + personal issues [yay stress. Stress EVERYWHERE] which sadly has left little time for myself or my art, and I hate it. I miss drawing and writing and want to get back into it but never seem to have the energy, drive, or ability for it. Very Frustrating. May need to change things up... I feel I am overdue for change. We'll see. I AM almost done with OCC, hopefully that'll lead to something
Got into Dark Souls as well thanks to and Steve/The Heartless' lets Play/Attempt Series. youtu.be/3-MLDNdXxC0 Iam terrible at it. I die a lot. Often for very stupid reasons. Gravity is the TRUE evil in that game... Hahaha.

So remember how I said I was involved with a Silent Hill tribute project? Well it's officially released~! : communitytributeproject.bandca…
It's currently a digital download, and you can name your own price [everything made is inspired by or paying tribute to the Silent Hill franchise] and the artbook is coupled with the music as a .pdf. It is also iPod/iPad/iPhone/Droid/Kindle friendly~! ♥
As for my contribution? it's page 19 of the artbook... I am still so excited to see it... ♥♥♥
If you are a silent hill fan, you should definitely check this out. A lot of really talented people worked really hard to make this come to fruition, and I am honored to be a part of it. It is a true labor of love and you will not be disappointed in the least~.

Figured I make a new journal post, since the previous one got no responses. Oh well. Not gonna let it get me down, gotta keep on truckin'.
Despite this, I have lovely news: I have been selected as a contributor for a Silent Hill Tribute project being organized via tumblr~! [Primarily a large, fan collaborate works involving art, music, and writing all inspired by and reflecting the Silent Hill franchise!]
I have already submitted artwork to it, but am also busy planning on trying to submit more, hence me being so quiet on DA. I am so excited for this, Silent Hill is my absolute favorite franchise, and being involved in such a lovely project really means a lot to me. When I get the "all clear" I will show you all what I have been working on, but until then I gotta do my best to keep everything under wraps... haha.
Don't worry, I'll still try to do other things as well, been pretty busy IRL, SH Tribute Project not-withstanding~!

[c&p'd this from my tumblr account, apologies if you see this twice!]
After a nice bit of R&R and getting back into the swing of things artistically, I have decided to open up commissions! I want to expand my "tools of the trade" so I can get better prepped for conventions specifically a nice photo printer and thermal laminator so I can make lovely, high quality 4x6 postcard prints, 8x10 prints, and high quality charms to sell at conventions [or use for future commission work! ♥ ]
So this is where you come in, you will be helping me helping you! Good deal, right? Here is what I will have to offer, should you choose to do business with me:
LINE ART - $10
COLORED - CEL SHADE $20
COLORED - RENDERED/"SOFT COLORING" - $30
ALL PRICES ARE SET FOR ONE CHARACTER, ADDITIONAL CHARACTERS CAN BE ADDED VIA $1 PER CHARACTER. GROUP PICTURES [5 or more] WILL BE A FLAT ADDITIONAL $5.
I can work digitally OR traditionally! Traditional works are colored via high quality Copic Art markers and can be done cel shaded or rendered! I can do fan art, original art, fantasy, animals, people pretty much anything! As long as it's within reason, of course. ♥ I primarily accepts via Paypal www.paypal.com/ , but if there are no alternatives I am willing to work out a deal.
I also guarantee my work, and will work with you+communicate with you throughout the process, making sure you are 100% satisfied with your piece~! if you are interested in commissioning you can reach me at three places:
1] Send me a message on Tumblr dezfez.tumblr.com/, I check it every day so it'll be easy for me to respond!
2] Email me at dezfez83 AT gmail DOT com. I also check this email regularly so again, I can't miss it~! ♥
3] send me a note on deviantart my.deviantart.com/notes/. Again, I check DA daily so I will be able to respond immediately!
I hope to do business with you soon~! ♥

I had such a lovely and wonderful time this year~ ♥.
I got to meet so many wonderful people, be with great friends and have a grand time, and even meet artists I admire tremendously. ♥ ♥ ♥
I go into much more detail on my tumblr: dezfez.tumblr.com/post/2505533… but overall, actually getting to meet and made my entire weekend... seriously, they are like, my artistic heroes. Meeting them meant a lot to me. I still can't believe it... haha.
I am also hoping to revive "Bakery Dewdrop . net" ASAP since I now have time to do so! It's long overdue, and given how well everything went this year at AnimeNEXT it would be silly not to revive it! So expect that in the immediate future~!
Also, since I managed to do well at getting commissions at the convention, I am going to be accepting "post-convention" commissions, since now I can do colored commissions as well as line art ones! I am more than likely going to keep the prices I had at AnimeNEXT, since it seemed to work really well, so again, expect more details in the immediate future! Especially if you wanted to commission me at the convention but somehow missed out! :3
Now to go hunt down all the business cards I collected and go say hi to everyone, hehe~! ♥
Sun Apr 15, 2012, 5:22 PM
Whelp. I officially have an art table for AnimeNEXT 2012! Huzzah! *cricket chirp*
At any rate, I plan on having more prints/stickers/window decals[?!] to sell this year, as well as emphasize sketch/line commissions. Also if I am not sitting directly next to her, I may also end up sharing my table with the lovely ! Much hilarity will ensue. Oh yes.
But right now I am working on a folklore/mythical beastie 5x7 postcard-print set. God willing they will be bookmarks too.
Also planning on having stickers, possibly magnets, and if I can finagle it... window decals. Yup. Window Decals. because I am crazy like that.
I am also tinkering with the idea of bringing sketchbooks with me to showcase my sketches and whatnot, to help show off what I can do when asking for a sketch/line commission. Should be fun. I need to crack down and get things done. Haha.
So! if you are in the North Jersey area during the days of June 8th thru 10th, stop on by the convention and say hi to me! if anything just look for the madwoman with the big blue box/display... muwahahaha. CX

sorry for the lack of everything... college+work are kind of kicking my butt... yay?
Semester is alright, marketing class is interesting and frustrating at the same time... western civ is interesting and fun as hell. Then again I am a history geek so yay? Durhur...
But forget about that, it's convention prep time! I am
Also managed to score a copy of Painter 12 for $90... which is hella affordable for art programs. It is wondrous and I am very happy with it. ♥
Also immense apologies to those I still owe sketch requests to... I suck at keeping schedules and time management and I completely dropped the ball on that and feel like a complete jerk. :l I DID NOT FORGET, I PROMISE. *flails*
