Hey there!

In case you didn't now yet, I'll be attending Confuzzled this week! I'm still in mid-scramble to prepare everything and pack up and I'll be leaving tomorrow early in the morning. :>

I'll be in the Dealer's Den (table #73) selling some prints and offering sketch and badge commissions, even digital commissions if so desired. (You'll have to handle printing yourself though)

Since the Dealer's Den doesn't open until Saturday I can take some pre-order commissions if anyone is interested. Just send me a note or an email at deyvarah[at]gmail.com and we can figure out the details!

I'm very excited about all of this, fingers crossed that everything goes alright.
Feel free to drop by at my table, even if it is just to chat. ^.^ See you around!

So yeah, I jumped the bandwagon... I made a patreon:

 www.patreon.com/DeyVarah

Now hear me out first: This is not supposed to be a paywall behind which I hide my drawings and I'm not trying to force you into it, but if you would really like to support me in creating more art, streaming more, coming to more conventions and just be one step closer to making a living off of my art in general, I would very very much appreciate if you became a patron! It would truly mean the world to me ;_;

The initial goal with this is to get to 10$ a month so I can get a premium membership on Picarto, do more streams/multistreams and offer 1on1 stream sessions! I'd really love to do that! :) Goal achieved! ;^;

I'm still fleshing out the reward sections and thinking about what would work, so bear with me.

The last year has brought me a big step further towards my goal of making a living as a professional artist. So I just wanted to say thank you so much (whether you support this or not) for everything so far!

Love,
~Dey

PC Bluescreen - Photoshop File corrupted... HELP?

Journal Entry: Wed Dec 10, 2014, 4:07 PM
  • Listening to: TwoThirds ~ Dreaming Aloud

Oookay, so here's the things: During my livestream today my PC had another one of its infamous crashes (the cause most likely being damaged RAM) and when I booted back up and re-opened Photoshop, the painting I'd been working on appeared to have been corrupted.

It is now merely a black background layer, even though the file is still the same size as before.

All repair toolkits and plugins I've tried so far either didn't work, crashed halfway through repairing or asked me to buy the license before I could save the file.

Stellar Phoenix PSD Repair is one that seems to be able to restore the file (it does show a preview of the file), but doesn't let me save it until I've signed in with a licensed account.

Opening it in FireWorks or InDesign has also yielded no results.

So my question: Anyone know ANY other way to repair the file that could help me?
Anyone got experience with Stellar Phoenix PSD Repair?

Please help me, I lost quite a bit of work there :(

Thankfully, I didn't lose all my work, since I had paused Dropbox's synchronization and thus still had the previous version of the file uploaded... but still I'd really like to save myself having to do all that fur shading again X_X

Commissions are OPEN!

As announced earlier this week, I'm opening commissions! :)

Please check the commission info tab here on FA or my gallery for examples of sketches, flat color and full color paintings. I work at an hourly rate of ~25€ (~30$)
Just send me a note with what you'd like me to draw and I can give you a quote.

Commissions will be closed after a certain amount of work hours are reached.

I will be trying to stream commissions more often, barring any more complications with my internet connection.

Looking forward to drawing (and streaming) awesome characters again! :D

IMPORTANT:

I charge by the hour at a rate of 25€ (~30$ check google for current rate) per hour, meaning the price depends on how many hours you want me to spend on your piece. I can give you a rough estimate of how long it will take when you first send me your pitch, and we figure out a price that we are both happy with.
I do not charge for the initial sketch, but I work on pre-payment only.

If you do not like these terms, then I'm sorry, but that is how I work :) I need to make a living!

Point Commissions

DO NOT accept point commissions. (Or any other internet currency)

If you want to know the prices in $ or any other currency please google "currency converter" and look what it tells you. Paypal converts the currencies for free and without fees if you send it in Euro currency!

Commission Process:

You send me a note, containing your wish to commission me and description of character and setting you want. The more detailed description the better.
I will then tell you whether I will or won't accept the commission and negotiate the price, should I accept.
You pay in advance, so my work won't be for nothing, should you change your mind.
If a price is set and paid, I start up a sketch and send the WIP to you asap.
You can tell me, what you like and don't like about it. Do not hold back on criticism, please. I want you to like the end product!
I will update you on the process and send you the finished picture in big solution (the PSD too, if you want it) as well as upload a smaller version here on deviantArt, unless you don't want me to.
I do not give set dates as to when I will finish the painting, since I like to take my time instead of being forced to rush. I do accept reasonable deadlines if there's a specific date that the picture has to be finished (e.g. as a birthday present).

Again, slots are limited and order for completion before Christmas is possible! In advance bookings are not ;3

I hope I will be able to start streaming again as well. It all depends on whether my internet issues have been resolved when I get back to my own place... Wish me luck! ^^°

Hey guys! Thought I'd give you a bit of a longer in advance notice this time :)

Commissions will open on Thursday (December 4) next week! A more accurate time will be posted soon.

All kinds of commissions, from sketches to full illustrations, will be available again, but slots will be limited. Booking in advance is not possible!  ;>
It will be possible to order for completion before Christmas, of course.

So yeah, hope some of you will be interested! :3

See you then!

Hey guys!

I realised I haven't offered commissions here in ages xD I put up a notice on FA sometimes but didn't do it here... Well, let's do it the other way around this time!

I'm open for one simple commission, meaning a sketch, flat color or something along those lines, no more than three hours worth of work. The upside: It will be completed by tomorrow!

As you may know I charge by the hour, my hourly rate being 25€. Now that may sound like a lot but keep in mind that I work fairly quickly. A flat color commission, depending on complexity of the character, should take at the most 2 hours.

Examples:

In for a Swim? by DeyVarah  ~1hour
Out on a Limb by DeyVarah ~2hours

Sketches will take around half an hour, again depending on character complexity.

So yeah, just send me a note with your info if you are interested :)

Eurofurence Report + Birthday

Hello guys & gals! :D

I am back from Eurofurence!!! Well, I've been back since Sunday but I was SO exhausted, I couldn't find the time or energy to write anything up until now x3

But first off: A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CONGRATULATED me on my birthday!!! There were SO many messages *_* I couldn't really reply to every single one so I'm putting all my love in this journal to say THANK YOUUUU!!! You're all so lovely and nice :aww:
A special thanks to SolinaBright for this gift  Happy Birthday Deyvarah! by SolinaBright  and to Felizis for extending my premium membership! <3 You guys are too nice!

Okay, now for the convention report! This is gonna be a loooong one :>

Back in March, I think, after much talk about it with both PanHesekielShiroi and c-t-elder they both somehow convinced me to register for Eurofurence and also get a table at the Dealer's Den there. I had always wanted to go to EF but every year something else interfered with it, but this time it somehow all worked out!
This was my first EF, my first European convention, my first time attending as an artist and my first con in over 7 years, having been to Anthrocon in 2007. So I don't really need to tell you just how nervous I was before all of this xD
Having a table at Dealer's Den and some panel space at the Art Show, I had little to no idea what I was getting into, but both Pan and Changer were eternally patient with my barrage of questions *_* Thank you guys so much!

I also convinced NadiavanderDonk to come with me to EF so I wouldn't be alone in the hotel. Obviously, at the time of my registration, the convention hotel (the Estrel in Berlin, biggest convention hotel in Europe) was already all booked out =/ So I found a small but cheap hotel about 15minutes by bus from the Estrel, the closest I could really find, and booked that for the both of us.
However, as murphy's law dictates, things went wrong at every corner and Nadia had to back out, leaving me at the motel alone which would've meant I had to walk through Berlin Neukölln alone at night and in the morning... Buuut, luck in disguise, I put up a post on the EF forums looking for someone who still had no room mate at the Estrel and lucked out! A nice czech guy was willing to share his room. I got to know him a little bit to make sure it's not some kind of creep (which he totally wasn't) and then agreed to his offer. I got SO incredibly lucky since this was less than a month before the con would start xD
Even in transportation I got very lucky! I found two people who would take me to the hotel and back respectively, directly from my home. I didn't have to worry about hauling my luggage all over town... so thanks a lot to Wahya (FA: wahyarhiadra) and FuranIrcas for that! :3

This theme of nice people helping me out selflessly is something that stretches throughout the whole convention, actually, but more on that later.
I arrived at the hotel last Tuesday, instantly ran into my room mate and got our rooms figured out. No standing in a long line at the reception or anything... I also stayed on the first floor of the main wing, so I had very short ways to all important locations :D Though the view wasn't very spectacular x3
After getting situated at the room and getting to know the area around the hotel a little, buying some food and drink, I had a lot of time to kill until 5pm the next day when I would pick up Changer and Sigmar from the station. So I went to the hotel lobby, where most of the early arrivals seemed to be hanging out, and just sat on one of the comfortable couches with my sketchbook and pencils. It was interesting, just watching people for a while, though I was a little sad that so many seemed to know each other while I knew no one there xD I made it my mission to actually get to know some people. I'm usually fairly shy when it comes to talking to strangers but it was surprisingly easy at EF! People were so incredibly open and welcoming. I just had to say it was my first EF and I didn't know anyone, and they would welcome me into their circle, talk to me and introduce me to other people. I'm tearing up just thinking about all the nice people I got to know that day and the next ;_;  One of them brought me a big piece of cinnamon cake only a day after we met. <3 I also got my first badge commission on the first evening *happy dance*.

After picking up Changer from the station, we went for dinner at a Western restaurant a little ways outside Berlin, right next to a lake. It was really lovely and they all shared some fun convention stories. We got back and still had to set up all our work a the art show. Changer had helped me out by getting my business cards and my one art show piece (the mountain sage) printed on canvas in time for the con, since I ran into some big time issues in the end >_>; So another big thanks for that and for sharing your panel space with me! <3

The next day, Thursday, was the start of the Dealer's Den! I ended up setting up my table between Changer and Qzurr (FA) and feeling woefully unprepared when I looked at all the stuff they offered and all the beautiful decoration/setups the other artists had ;_; I only ended up having some bookmarks (that I made myself, painstakingly cutting out, laminating and cutting out again... so. much. pain.) and just a few prints to sell. And AGAIN Changer was a huge help by offering to print out my stuff on demand with the printer they brought with them *_* <3
But even though I felt super inferior, unprepared and amateur at the Dealer's Den, the first day went pretty well for me and I was really surprised by that. I got several sketch commissions and some linearts and badges, people showed some real interest in my stuff and talked to me and were in general just very very lovely!
I can't stress this enough! I felt so at home in a huge group of basically complete strangers, it felt almost unreal. They kept bringing me food, I got lots of little gifts and gestures pretty much every day!
I also bought a few things, like some really cute earrings by Olven and a super cute snow leopard plushie (how could I resist!).
The evenings I spent either at one of the so called Artist Lounges that were set up for people to draw, chat and have fun in the evenings, or with Qzurr, ShinigamiGirl, DarkNatasha and more people on their rooms, finishing up sketch commissions from the day :D

After the last day of Dealer's Den (Saturday) I went up to a room party of about 12 people, we ordered food, sketched and watched at least part of the famous Pawpet Show broadcasted on the special EF tv channel. It ended up starting so late though, that we all left after the first act. I ended up at the hotel bar with Qzurr, RK and VlenPuppeh, later joined by Erilo and ShinigamiGirl, drinking absolutely delicious cocktails and just having some fun... I became a witness to the totally unexpected and super sweet proposal of Erilo to Shinnie. And then we celebrated some more xD
I had to leave at some point to finish yet more sketches, I think I ended up falling into bed at around 4:30am? Which wouldn't be such an unusual time for me if I hadn't been getting up at 8:30am every morning to join the others at the delicious breakfast buffet of the Estrel.

Speaking of the Estrel, what a perfect hotel for convention this turned out to be! They were extremely well organized and really the only problems we had were the elevators which were constantly being stress-tested (per EF tradition, as I was told, there was a twitter account set up for the "estrelavator" xD). On the day of my arrival the hotel staff looked a little worried and bewildered at what was going on. No matter how prepared they were, they had no real idea what was coming! xD But over the next few days you could see them visibly warming up to all the furries and fursuiters. They embraced the convention and some of the waiters even ended up wearing fursuits at work! Even the reception staff was wearing animal ears on Sunday, too. I was SO happy to just see them be so open and friendly instead of scoffing and wrinkling noses at the "weirdos". It was heart-warming! ;^;

I'm sure there are SO many things I forgot in this "little report". If I'm sad about anything, it would be that I didn't take the time to go to some of the panels, but I ended up being so busy at my table the whole time x3

Suffice to say: All in all, this was the best first EF experience I could've had! I am most definitely coming back next year and I'm also looking into more conventions to go to in the future! 83

If you got to the end of this journal, thank you very much for reading! ^_^ I just had to share what a great experience I've had, especially with the general apprehensiveness one encounters when talking about furry conventions.

Hey guys!

I'm back from a week of utter un-productiveness... as always, when I go home. I end up spending time with my family, going shopping (it was necessary okay) and doing everything but what I should be doing. Ah well, it was a great time anyway >_>

So anyway, funds are very tight this month so there will be at least one livestream this weekend, the first one being tomorrow (Friday) starting around 6 pm CEST/UTC+2 over on my channel www.livestream.com/deylicious

While the first two hours will be dedicated to finishing a piece that was previously commissioned, Commission hours will be available again at a rate of 20€/hour for those who are interested. In advance booking of hours is NOT possible, sorry! :) (Smile)

Other than that I'll likely be doodling and/or working on stuff for Eurofurence.

I hope I'll see some of you there! Hi!

Hey guys!

I've got a bit of an update and information for you that should be of interest especially if you were looking to commission me (or are just generally interested in my life, lol yeah right xD)

Some of you may know that I'm studying in university for a degree in Japanese Studies and Linguistics. In fact I'm getting very close to the end and I'm supposed to be finishing my thesis by October. Now since I'm a horrible procrastinator that is sadly not the only thing I need to do and as a result, I have a literal fuckton of work to do in the next three months.

As a result and even though I've been depending on my commission earnings to live off of, I have to put a hold on commissions for at least until October. I wish I didn't have to, as I've been making progress and really love working on commissions, but the reality is that I can't deal with the kind of double pressure that comes with it. ;_; Whether I'm working on uni stuff or art, I always have the other haunting me in the back of my mind...

Anyway, so I'm taking a commission hiatus BUT I'll still be doing some commission livestreams where people can order live and I will complete the work while on stream (no full illustrations since they take longer than I will be streaming for). These streams will likely mostly happen during the weekend, so Friday to Sunday. I really hope people take some interest in that, I will need all the spare money I can get to survive the next few months x_X

The rest of my free time off uni work will be dedicated to sleep and preparation for Eurofurence at the end of August. I hope I'll be seeing some of you there! :)

So again, if you were looking to commission me, you will either have to wait till at least October or come to my livestream sessions. I'd much appreciate that!

So long and wish me luck ;_;

Hey guys!

I'm gonna ask you for a favor. Here's the thing: As some of you may know, steam has summer sales going on at the moment and right now Prototype 2 is 75% off in the Flash Sales.

I really want to buy the game but since I am located in Germany, it will only let me buy the "Low Violence" version ( stupid, right?!). So I need someone from outside of Germany to gift me the game on steam so I get the original version. I read up on it and supposedly this works.

The game is currently 7,49€ and I would send you back the money through paypal OR draw you a sketch as a thank you, whichever you prefer.

This offer lasts for 3 more hours so please please help me out? :3

Just contact me via steam (deyvarah) or note!

I got someone, thank you very much!

In other news, I plan on streaming later this evening (might need a nap before it) and I'll probably be open for a couple of sketch commissions like the last ones again.
In any case I'd be happy to see anyone who wants to hop in, have a chat with me and others, or even just lurk and watch. It helps keeping me motivated and focused! ^_^

Hey guys! It's been a while (again)

As the title says, as of now and for the forseeable future, I will be open for commissions. See the info below for details on the how and what.

For those that are still expecting art from me, do not worry, I'm pretty far along the to do list and will be uploading soon! :)
I like to work on multiple things at once because it gives me time to step away from one piece and get back to it with fresher eyes a little later.

By the way, I still strongly encourage everyone to follow my tumblr for daily sketches, redlines, work in progress and general silliness!
I've been spending a lot more time on tumblr than anywhere else recently, I feel like I connect to it better. Tumblr understands me xD It also has a unique kind of humor that just cracks me up... so yeah anyway... commissions!

IMPORTANT:

I charge by the hour at a rate of 12€ (~16$) per hour, meaning the price depends on how many hours you want me to spend on your piece. I can give you a rough estimate of how long it will take when you first send me your pitch, and we figure out a price that we are both happy with.
I do not charge for the initial sketch, but I work on pre-payment only.

If you do not like these terms, then I'm sorry, but that is how I work :) I need to make a living!

Point Commissions

don't accept point commissions.

On being Active and upcoming Birthdays

Journal Entry: Mon Aug 19, 2013, 5:55 AM
  • Listening to: Les Friction
  • Reading: Pacific Rim
  • Watching: too many things
  • Playing: too many things

Hey guys!
I don't know why I always put off writing journals for so long... but I guess it's good so I don't flood you with stuff that you don't care about anyway, huh? xD

Anyway, you might wonder why I'm not exactly being "active" on deviantart even though I stream more often than I used to and am obviously working on art. Well the thing is, currently most of what I do are book cover illustrations for a small book publisher and I can't really post those online until the book has come out. It's as simple as that. I really like doing cover illustrations, it's such diversified work and really really good practise for me, even if it's not exactly paid too well... it IS paid and it helps me build a portfolio and get some exposure. The figurative foot in the door, since I hope to be doing this for a living soon.

Truth is, I decided a while ago that I would only finish my degree at university to have something and to not have wasted 5 years of my life (though I will never consider my year in Japan a waste, it was one of the best experiences in my life). But I no longer want to find a job in that field, since I realised that what I want to do is art, no matter how poor I'll end up lol... I wish I'd had that determination and the confidence in my skills when I was younger, but I guess it's better late than never? So yeah... my plan for the new future is: Do my last internship in September, finish a few essays and an oral exam in October and then do my thesis and project work during the semester. Hopefully finish uni in January and then begin my life as a full time freelance illustrator. Wish me luck! xD

In other news, my birthday is coming up this Sunday and I'll be turning 25! Holy shit, do I start to feel old... on the other hand 25 is my favorite number and I'm kinda hoping it will be a decisive year in my life (see above). This week is shaping up to be a good one. I'm going to finally get a proper microphone for streaming and maybe making videos (art or game related) again. Very much looking forward to that. My good friends :iconimaraflux: and :iconbaerenki11er: will be visiting for a day during the week and on the weekend it's party time!!!

And lastly, my current fan-crazes: Pacific Rim!!! Oh good lord, that movie blew my mind! I love every single thing about it. I saw it during the week I was in England, thankfully so I didn't have to watch it in 3D and man, I'm still reeling from it, haha. I managed to get myself the movie novelization as ebook, the art book is on my amazon wishlist and I'm reading every fanfic I can get my hands on. *sigh*

Attack on Titan. Watched and read that a while ago already but still pretty much in love with that manga. The story is so good and full of suspense and plot-twists. It's like Game of Thrones all over again! I can't wait for the next chapter and more questions to be answered and asked.

Star Trek Into Darkness. This one has been going on since the moment I saw the movie in May. It is by far my favorite movie in 2013 (closely followed by Pacific Rim now) and I'm still obessed with it. I found out about a few books that came out in 2010 following the relaunch movie that were about Jim Kirk's time in Starfleet Academy. Bought and devoured those in about a week. Still reading many many fanfictions and I've also started thinking about writing my first own, a crossover (because I love those) with Pacific Rim. Haha, we'll see if it happens. I'm not exactly a writer.

Les Friction. The best music I have had in ages. I found them through an epic trailer montage and have been listening to them non-stop since. They sound kind of like the perfect lovechild of 30 seconds to mars and Immediate Music/Two steps from hell, if you ask me. Throw a little bit of Imagine Dragons in there too. You should absolutely check them out! My favorite songs are World on Fire, String Theory and Louder than Words. So inspiring! *_*

I have yet to find out how one "joins a fandom" for anything. I'm basically nursing all my fangirling craziness by myself right now, trying to spread them to other people, but it feels incomplete! x3 I need people to talk to about this stuff that are as crazy about it as I am, goddamnit! If you're out there, let me know! xD
I've wanted to make another tumblr just for reblogging and following stuff but I'm failing at the supposedly simple task of finding a name for it... so pathetic. ^^°

Aaaaaaanyways...

Good news everyone!

Journal Entry: Mon May 27, 2013, 11:09 AM

Hello everyone!
It's been a looong while since I was really "active" on dA, mostly because there was a lot of uni stuff I had to do (and even when I procrastinate on uni stuff, my conscience wouldn't let me draw *sigh*) and then I felt like playing games rather than drawing...

Anyway, I'm back! And hopefully will be more active than ever :D Reasons? Well, first off I recently aqcuired myself a brand new Wacom Cintiq 13HD :boogie: and oh wow is it awesome! It's the perfect size for me and it feels soooo much more natural and comfortable to work on. I'm now less likely to develop neck pains and headaches from working for longer periods of time. So, if all goes well you can expect a lot more art from me in the future. Plus, I'll open commissions soon-ish because I have to earn back the money I spent on the tablet xD

Speaking of buying tablets... I'm selling my "old" Wacom Intuos4 small because, obviously, I don't need that anymore. It's about 2 years old now, still working perfectly fine and in pretty good condition. I'd probably want around 85€ (half the original price) plus shipping cost for it so if you're interested, let me know! I'd prefer shipping within Europe, though.

The tablet has been sold! Thanks and sorry to everyone who was interested.

In other news, I've started working with a young book publisher, creating covers for various works. I don't get paid much yet, but it's a good step forward in what I hope to be my future...
Once I get uni over and done with finally, I want to switch fields and follow my dream after all.

Now as a reminder, I do have a twitter, facebook and tumblr account where you can "stalk" me if you want to. I don't add everyone on facebook but you can follow my updates, I really just post random things. My tumblr is where most of my sketches go, so I'd most recommend that.

:twitter: twitter.com/DeyVarah
:facebook: www.facebook.com/dey.varah

Tumblr: deyvarah.tumblr.com

Aaaaanyway, I'll probably post ranty journals 'n other stuff (especially about my recent fangirl topics like Rick Riordian's books and Star Trek Into Darkness) soon but for now, this is the "important" stuff ^^;

See ya around!

UPDATE: Wow, that was quick! Thanks so much guys, I'll open up again as soon as I can! Don't want to get too big of a work load with Christmas coming up ^^

---------------------------------------------

Alright guys! As I announced, I'm opening commissions for December and probably January, part of them are going to be two (2) special limited slots for works deadlined for Christmas. All other slots are normal and do not have a determined completion time.

To people who i promised a commission slot and forgot about it, please note me asap!

I am also moving to the new price model of 10€/hour, to make the whole thing a bit more worth my time. You know I love art and I love working on commissions, but I have a limited amount of time as well as very limited funds so I need to do this, however much you will curse me for it.

I'm going to give you estimates on how long your particular commission would take and how much it would cost. You then pay upfront and I start working. I will never charge more than a half our for the sketch phase even if I take longer. If you demand it, I will stream the entire commission process so you can make sure I'm not cutting corners or cheating you out of extra hours.

If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to ask! :)
Looking forward to your notes! :meow:

Being more active + Christmas commissions

Journal Entry: Wed Nov 21, 2012, 11:43 AM

I'd love to be more active on deviantart or in the art community in general and put more time into improving my art skills but dayum the internet is so full of distractions I always end up doing something else... That and having a second time consuming hobby such as gaming makes it kinda hard to spend as much time drawing as I'd like to, even though I have a fair amount of free time.
I normally compromise by multitasking, meaning I e.g. draw and watch a movie/video at the same time but with gaming and art, well that's just impossible :/  So, I'm at a point where I don't really know what to do. It's kind of hard to be really active in more than one community while still retaining and acceptable social life outside the internet (which I already don't really have, sad isn't it?). I really don't want to have to choose between the two though. Gaming is not just a pass-time but also a huge inspiration to me as an artist which I do not want to lose. But I find myself lacking in the department of friends to play with. You can only have so much fun alone until it feels lonely.
Same thing with art, I love it, it is my favorite thing to do at any time, but sharing it with others has become one of the biggest motivators as well. As such I want to be more active in the art community in general, doing more work, more diversified and generally getting out of my comfort zone more. I want my dA group to thrive and I want to start community projects as well as finally get started on my graphic novel.
I could really do with a 48h day, basically... or just waste less time watching videos and scrolling through 9gag. Time management has always been my biggest problem. I am a huuuge procrastinator, strangely even on things that are fun to me. I often have to force myself to do something or I end up bored even though I could do so many things, but cannot decide on anything. How sad is that?
This is such a whiny journal... I should stop, I don't even know why I'm writing this but oh well.

Let's give this journal a purpose, why don't we? I'll be opening commissions on Dec 1st. There will be a smaller number of slots this time but with a guarantee that they will be finished for Christmas, in case you want the pic as a Christmas present. For those who are looking for normal slots without a deadline, I'll have a few reserved spots.

I'm looking to try and shift into a more sensible price model (probably an hourly rate of some description) in the future, meaning that prices will probably go up a bit but you can more directly control the amount of detail going into your piece. It will also help improve my speed. I have been regularly going overboard on the detailing where I shouldn't have and while I love putting a lot of work into details, if it is a commission it needs to be rewarded and I hope you will understand that. I will also give the whole commission auction thing a try, though I find it a less fair model than hourly rates.
It might still end up not working at all as I'm not that well known (especially outside the feline-drawing "community", another reason to diversify) but I can risk the experiment since I've unexpectedly been granted another half year student loan.

Anyway, that's it for now.

See ya!

Come play FORGE with me!

Journal Entry: Wed Oct 31, 2012, 7:14 AM

Hey guys! :3

So you probably know I'm a big gamer, right? Having played World of Warcraft for several years I still find myself missing the game even over a year after I quit it. So when I found out about a game called "Forge" which is an MMO-style PvP only game currently in its beta but looking VERY promising, I was excited to say the least. I watched a couple of videos by TotalBiscuit about it and decided I want to try it. I've been sinking quite a bit of time into it and am enjoying it greatly. Soooo, in order to help the Forge community grow bigger I want to promote the game here, since I know there are quite a few other game nerds like me here on deviantArt :)  Go go, get the 14day free beta-client and try it out, register to the forums, it's got a really nice community so far! I'm looking forward to seeing you guys in game!

Update:
To  promote this game in better words I copy-pasted a nice little description by bigbuddah, who was one of the first players of the game and is very active in the community.

"Ever wanted a game with the depth, strategy and class based pvp of an MMO but the twitch aim skillset of an FPS? A game where gear/class/stats/RNG never dictated the outcome of a match?
A game where you can feel so ninja? Walljumping, rocket jumps, flying, anti-gravity jumps, fighting while jumping from rooftop to rooftop, and much more!
There is no PvE. Only pure and balanced PvP. 20$ one time payment. Available for PC (Mac installer coming soon!) and on steam." ~bigbuddah

Home page: www.playforgewar.com/
Forum link: www.playforgewar.com/forums/in…

Also: If you DO register and/or play, would you do me a favor and PM to the developer Sojourner that "Atharva" referred you? That'd be great! :]

In other news: I'm working on my last couple of commissions from August. I'm ashamed it took me so long but there's just been too much going on! I will hopefully be able to open commissions around mid-November with a guarantee to finish Christmas present commissions in time.

See ya!
