*does a happy dance* :boogie:

I finished it! It took about a month . I only barely managed to find the time to finish it lol.

Basically, I used the same reference for this as I used for the Curiosity ACEO. I liked the reference for the ACEO card so much that I just had to do a full-sized version of it . It's amazing to look at the differences 0.0

I also like how the background turned out, which is amazing since I got impatient and rushed it (as usual ). I will probably go over it again later and darken up a few things, but for now, I call it finished enough to upload!

Materials: Prismacolors and regular sketch paper.
Reference: A photo from The American Paint Horse: A Photographic Portrayal.
Time Spent: I lost track . . . again. Over 15 hours.

Comments are strongly encouraged ;P lol.

Fantastic picture, love how warm the colours are. It show's movement clearly and your blending is good. Adding a shine to the eye would add more life to it though! Great job overall.

The light was wrong for the shine, and it messes with the blue and the realism in the horse's eye.

One other thing. I see u use pastels. I am absolutely clueless on how to use them LOL do u use them like crayons or what? i have a big pack of them in my closet and I want to use them but dont know exactly how theyre made to be used.

Depends on the type of pastels. I use chalk pastels. They layer really easily. Oil pastels are more like crayons in many ways, though.

I'm not as familiar with oil pastel techniques, but yeah. I think that's more how they're used. :)

I started out with a really small pack that I was required to buy for a college art class. I did this picture out with that pack. Then I just gradually built up my collection until I now have all the colors :)

oh thats neat! thank you for the tip there. one day i will be getting some. I am an artist and i use many mediums like paint and pencil and even spray paint. but when im here on DA i just draw my silly horse characters. I will have to post some of my "real" art soon.

You never cease to amaze me! :wow:

Not only have you created such vibrant, natural tones, but you've also captured the movement of the horse's body so perfectly. You also managed to make the markings look very believable and realistic, which is difficult to do sometimes.

I thought this was a photo when I saw the thumbnail! :giggle: Great work!

Awww thanks :blushes:

This was one of the first prismacolor pictures I ever did (technically, it was my second), so I was experimenting with the whole thing. I'm glad you like it so much :D.
