Kibwe is very prideful. He is also very self-sustaining since he basically grew up alone. He longs to be with a mate or just someone to tell him they love him since he never really had that. He's very friendly and lovable once you get to know him, but due to his "disability" it is very hard for him to trust other lions/lionesses because all he knew was fear growing up.
Can morph wings on thought basically and fly very well. Has near perfect eyesight as well and can also see very far away.
Kibwe was born to a pride very far away from the Misfit Pride. His pride was a very strong well bonded one. However, they looked down upon any weakness or abnormaliy and usually went to great lengths to keep their pride the best of the best. Luckily for Kibwe he was an exception. When he was born his mother suffered greatly from her wounds, so much so in fact that she died giving birth. Kibwe's father, alpha of his pride at the time, held a great resentment toward Kibwe for taking the love of his life away. However, Kibwe seemed normal on all accounts at the time so therefore was allowed to stay with the pride, but was treated as the lowest member of the pride, not like the true son of the alpha. As a cub he was teased and bullied and as an adolescent he basically had to hunt and fend for himself. Through this he became strong and very independant.
Upon reaching the age of 16 something that would change Kibwe's life took place. Kibwe always had dreams of flying and somewhere in his mind he knew he would someday. Well one night he was out on patrol. He was daydreaming, as usual, of flying and above his shoulders morphed these two magnificent wings. He ws so taken aback by them that he sat back on his haunches and forgot about his patrol for that night. Thinking he was dreaming, he climbed atop a high rock and lept off. Stupidly and without the knowledge of how to fly he fell to the ground... hard. Hitting the ground he realized this wasn't a dream and as reality set in fear over took him. He knew if his pride found out he would be killed, yet how does one hide something as magnificent as wings? His mind raced then he calmed down a bit and his wings rested against his sides. As they did they morphed back into himself and it looked as if they were never there. He sighed a heavy sigh of relief and as he thought of them again they appeared just as they had before. He tried again to not think of them and rested them along his body, surely they returned just as if they were never there. He raced home to report his "patrol" as completed and rested the remainder of the night. The next evening on his patrol and for many months to follow he would go out and practice his flying alone at night. As he became better his patrols became shorter as he would fly across them with ease. He became well adapted to flying, wishing at times he could fly during the day, knowing all to well that would bring about certain death.
Well one night while leaving for a patrol he grew careless and did not ensure that everyone was asleep. His father was still awake. He had meant to tell Kibwe that he needed to scout about the watering hole tonight. As Kibwe took off his father stood in silence and disgust at what his son was. He returned to the pride to sleep. Planning on dealing with this in the morning with the pride's full backing. Kibwe finished his patrol and returned to sleep unaware of the coming events he would face in the morning.
The next morning Kibwe's father woke up extra early and held a meeting with the rest of the pride before Kibwe awoke, to tell them of his son's mutation. His pride felt anger toward Kibwe for not being strong enough to confront them and tell them sooner. When Kibwe awoke and walked out of his den he found everyone at it's entrance with his father leading the group. His expression grew worrisome as he saw the looks of anger and disgust on their faces. He walked up to his father, tail between his legs for he knew he had done something wrong. "Father." Kibwe mumbled under his breath.
"Do you know why we are all gathered here before you son?" his father asked.
"No. However, I know I did something wrong." Kibwe replied.
"Yes. You have disgraced this pride." He told his son sternly. Aghast, Kibwe took several steps back from the pride. He knew what happened to lions and lionesses who brought disgrace to the pride.
"W-Wh-Wht did I do father?" Kibwe said, head to the ground.
"Is there something your hiding from us son?" Fear suddenly over took Kibwe. How did they find out? he wondered. "Yes father there is." he said. Kibwe's pride taking over momentrily, then overcome with regret. His father's piercing eyes seemed to tear right through Kibwe.
"We all know your secret. Your a disgrace to this pride and you know all to well what happens to lions who become a disgrace."
Kibwe coward in fear, hoping he'd be given an ultimatum and not the death sentence. His father's glare hardened and Kibwe knew what his fate in this pride was to be. He backed off a few steps and brought forth his wings. The pride gasped and some fled in fear, others gawked in amazement. His father growled and lowered himself to pounce after saying, "This has ended you to me. No longer are you my son or a part of this pride. I shall kill you or give my life trying to. Should you evade me, however, a mark shall be placed upon your head and you shall forever be hunted for your deformity."
Kibwe shuddered in fear of his father's words as he took a leap towards his son. Kibwe jumped back and pawed at his father gashing his father's face with two claws. The rest of the pride's fear turned to hatred as their alpha was attacked and they began to lunge for Kibwe. Knowing his fate would be sealed had he remained where he washe lept for the sky taking flight. He flew out of reach of his pride and soared off, now comletely alone. He would have to start anew, but where? Surely no one could accept someone as him into their pride....?
