I like how Poppi gets away with snarking at everyone by blaming it on her programmer. And hey, rocket boots! Unfortunately, I got stymied in Gormott by two or three ridiculously overleveled roaming monsters, so I never got very far past Poppi's introduction. That freaking Territorial Rotbart always wanders into my attempts to grind and OHKO's the entire party...

I ended up benefiting from a wad of grinding when I lost my way back on Gormott, and the next time I got in a serious pinch was way later against Malos and Jin (because of COURSE this isn't the last time you'll fight these guys). Try grinding up and down the last path that had fights you could handle, doing a few side quests, then stay at an inn to spend all that bonus EXP before trying again. Also, there's nothing stopping you from using Skip Travel to revisit other continents, but at this point you don't have Pyra on your team, which could make grinding tough...

Lastly, aim for Akhos first. His attacks that lock down your Drivers and/or Blades will be the biggest threat here.

I got lost too, wait Pyra leaves your team?
Oh yeah but if you lose to them first ya get her back into your party.
I ended up doing a crap ton of side quests and when my party was level 25, 26, and 27 I stopped.
I also went to see what other people did and it turns out most successful people aimed for Malos first and got him down to half HP.
When I finally managed to do it I got Mythra and by that point the battle was sold (meaning that it was easy from that point on).

Pyra less "leaves your team" and more "is taken hostage so Malos can eat her memories and regain his full Monado powers." Which is marginally better than Jin killing everyone, which was the other option. Pyra forces a stalemate by dissecting Jin's explanation of his powers, which is pretty badass of her, but she does get captured in the end. The fight I mentioned is to get her back, and you do have to reduce Malos' HP to half again to win -- dying means you start over at the bottom of the stairs and Malos gets the initiative. It's fairly easy to beat at Level 62 or so, though.

Good work! Huh, I ended up reducing Akhos to 0 HP and knocking him out first. I guess I did more than I had to.

Yeah, Mythra makes everything easier, which is why it's a pain when she gets kidnapped. Don't worry, you'll eventually get Roc and some other lockpicking Blades back after the mess with Vandham, too. I can't say I didn't see it coming -- he's basically the Urayan version of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

I find that Mythra's most useful trait isn't her giant, particle-beam-spewing death-mech, but her ability to recharge your Driver Arts when you score a critical hit. You can keep a nearly endless combo flowing that way, among other benefits!

Oooohhhh, I get it now. I hadn't gotten to that part of the game but now it makes sense why you said Jin instead of Akkos.
Oh, by the way "Monado" is in the first Xenoblade Chronicles not the second... but I still get what you mean.
Yup, I have a bunch of "rare" blades right now, including Roc.
And yeah Vandham is like Obi-Wan Kenobi!!!
Oh yeah I noticed that too when I was fighting with Mythra it was SUPER handy.
At the moment though I'm kinda stuck on the boss "Lila" to you have any tips on how to beat her?
I'm not the best at Boss battles if you can tell... ^u^

You haven't fought Malos at the Cliffs of Morytha yet, then. He uses moves literally named "Monado Cyclone", "Monado Buster", "Monado Jail", etc. And his super evil sword has one of those glowing glyphs floating in the hilt.

Lila wasn't particularly difficult for me, perhaps because I spent a little too much time grinding every time I got stuck. You should definitely make sure to get full use out of the trick Vandham taught you: set Nia up with the attack that causes Break in her top Driver Art slot, then use Anchor Shot to Topple your foes. They can't move, attack, or block during that time, and your Specials will do way more damage. Also, Mythra's level 2 Special, Photon Sword, is gamebreakingly strong. Use it as often as possible. Don't even bother with her level 4.

I just beat the game half an hour ago, by the way. I spent more than 110 hours earning Rex's happy ending...but an error crashed my game before I could save. I'm *SO* peeved right now. I know the tricks I'd need to beat the final boss again, though. Feel free to pick my brain for hints.

Oh okay the developers probably wanted to have a reference from the first game... or maby this is an ACTUAL SEQUEL.

How do you move the specials around?

I know how you feel with the almost beating the game but it glitches out that used to happen to me all the time with other games. Thanks for the advice! ^u^
