Episode 24 of tribble-of-doom
's Youtube series, Cow of the Wild, was released yesterday and it was worth the wait. The last episode ended on something of a cliffhanger, as young wolf Lupis (one of the main protagonists) was discovered and captured by the malevolent wolf king, Rune, a crazed tyrant who murdered his entire family. Needless to say, Lupis is far from thrilled at the prospect of joining Rune, his trusty sidekick, Kia, and his long-suffering queen, Marra, on a field trip. The latter pushes Lupis to challenge Rune for leadership, which reveals a nasty truth that most fans of the series suspected but hadn't been confirmed nor denied.
So many things are coming together and shit is getting real in this series, so I was inspired to have another shot at Rune, doing what he does best: killing... uh... something? If you haven't watched this series, I would highly recommend it. Not only is the voice acting consistent and very good all the way through, but it's amazing to watch the art and animation evolve through the 20+ episodes. It's also a series that makes you think and keeps you on your toes. For example: Rune, despite being a central part of the story, is originally introduced as a background character and a lackey to Lupis's scheming uncle. There's also the red herring protagonist in the form of Milly, a cow who wishes to be part of a wolf pack, hence the title. The plot is mostly centred around the wolves and their grisly politics but Milly occasionally causes some sort of mishap to move the plot along.
Had a lot of fun doing this and yay for style experimentation. Again.
