Alright, so let's imagine you've worked hard for 6 years at your job and you've saved up some vacation time and use it for your wedding and honeymoon as well as after buying a new house and when you come back....guess what!? You don't have your job anymore! Yup, that's basically what happened to our manager the other day. They said: Oh, we can offer you a job at a similar station, it's 2 hours away... Yeah, that's a hard pass on that one just for fuel costs alone. So the other alternative was: You can get a part time job cutting fruit over here with us...he picked that one instead as it least it wasn't more of a paycut than the other option was.
So what happened was one manager in the company elsewhere wanted to take over the position of another manager (seniority privilege) who was kicked over to our store so that kicked our manager out completely. What a wedding present huh?
So the one option we might have is to contact our Union and complain, but apparently based on the history of this kind of stuff happening they won't be able...or more likely willing to do anything about it. But you do have to try your options.
Still, this is amazing to me, he's one of the few people I know that actually does his job and sometimes above and beyond his job, has worked there a solid 6 years and then suddenly you find out you have no job security and are lucky to get a part time job when you were originally in a full-time position.
Even if this situation does get rectified, I think he is in severe need of an apology by the company that I don't think will ever come. The timing was absolutely impeccable
