In just over a month, I'm going to be 31... I feel like the passage of time should have made a greater impact on me. It feels like the exact same amount of time it took to turn 16, or 18, or 22. I mean, clearly, nights and days, minutes and seconds, have all elapsed but... i dunno. Is standing still while stuff happens around an existential crisis?

Art on a Post-It Note

Wed Mar 6, 2013, 9:37 PM
I've been trying (in vain) to resuscitate my sketch blog. One quick sketch a day on a quarter sheet of paper was just too much for me, apparently.

I've re-imagined it! 1.5"x2" Post-It Notes. Even if I want to get super detailed, I only have so much room, and thus should be able to COMPLETE one a few times a week.  I'll be posting them to my sketch blog as well as my deviantArt.

Still packing my crap an moving so my blog will be updated more often than here, as I can do that form my trusty iPhone.

It can get worse

Mon Mar 4, 2013, 11:52 AM
I'm going to be on dA EVEN LESS in the coming weeks, as if that's even possible. I'm packing my shit! Moving takes up so much time, and who knows when I'll have space to do art again... The move is a good thing, but the circumstances will suck. Hopefully I'll be inspired to art even tho I don't have my own studio anymore. Love you all

Instant Hit!

PostApocAirshipCapt by Destiny-Carter

My Post-Apocalyptic Airship Captain Boots were an INSTANT HIT!!! I had over 100 faves in less than 24 hours which is the best I've done in such a short amount of time with any piece. I wanted to thank everyone individually for adding them to their favorites and collections, but dA says repeating the message over and over is considered spam, so it blocked me. I may not have said thank you personally like I intended to but I DO THANK YOU ALL!

First of 2012

Mon Jan 23, 2012, 1:19 AM
For those who have noticed, I have indeed been absent. Not only in adding art, but commenting and appreciating those who have visited mine... 3500 pieces, posts, comments, and updates were proof for how much of a slack off I've been.  Life is amazing at making things crazy, as this next list will surely illustrate.

CONS (get em out of the way):
__ Divorce
__ Christmas without family
__ Being stood up on New Year's
__ Financial destruction
__ My kitty, DanJumbo, passing away - RIP Kitty boy!
__ My brand new computer blowing a power supply, being sent to HP for 20 days, and returning with a WIPED $^@*ing harddrive (the biggest excuse for my absence)
__ My grandmother is now blacking out on a regular basis, falling, and hitting her head. She's ok, but I'm worried.

__ The release of the Sassy Feet book, co-authored by moi.
__ Getting a part time data entry job with an AMAZING glass studio, Amri Studios.
__ The Dickens Christmas Fair
__ Making new friends
__ Helping a deserving couple
__ I still have my puppy.
__ Anti-Depressants (lol)

Well, you all are now up to speed and (majorly overly) informed! Thanks for sticking with this, and I hope to start posting all of last year's daily sketches form my sketch blog on dA. To check out this year's sketches click

Oh my god
Please help me, knee deep in the river tryin' to get clean
He says wash your hands, get out the stains
But you best believe, boy, there's hell to pay
Yeah you best believe, boy, there's hell to pay, sayin'
Come on

Oh my god
Please help me, waist deep in the river, can you hear my plea?
He says, son, you come like a beggar in the street
You might make it, boy, but by the skin of your teeth
You might make it, boy, but by the skin of your teeth, sayin'

I rambled with the worst of them
Fell in love with a Harlequin
Saw the darkest hearts of men
And I saw myself starin' back again
And I saw myself starin' back again

Oh my god
Please help me, neck deep in the river screamin' for relief
He says, it's mine to give, but it's yours to choose
You're gonna sink or swim, you're gonna learn the truth
No matter what you do you're gonna learn the truth sayin'

Ate the bread that once was stone
Fell from a cliff, never broke a bone
Bowed down to get the kings overthrown
And I'm all alone and the fire grows
And I'm all alone and the fire grows

Rules for Being Human

Thu Jun 9, 2011, 10:24 AM
Ten Rules for Being Human

by Cherie Carter-Scott

1. You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it's yours to keep for the entire period.
2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called, "life."
3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error, and experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately "work."
4. Lessons are repeated until they are learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson.
5. Learning lessons does not end. There's no part of life that doesn't contain its lessons. If you're alive, that means there are still lessons to be learned.
6. "There" is no better a place than "here." When your "there" has become a "here", you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here."
7. Other people are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.
8. What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.
9. Your answers lie within you. The answers to life's questions lie within you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.
10. You will forget all this.

1. Tell you something I learned about you by looking at your DA page for 13 seconds.

2. Tell you a color you remind me of.

3. Tell you my first memory of you.

4. Tell you what movie, TV, or video game character you remind me of.

5. Ask you a question, and you must answer.

6. Tell you something I like about you.

7. Give you a nickname.

8. Tell you the object that is to the left of me.

9. Dare you to post this in your journal.

My First Stolen Art Piece

Thu Mar 17, 2011, 9:55 AM
I was notified by another deviant art member that my piece had been uploaded by someone else in the dA community and listed as their own.  They were smart enough to use a shitty cell phone to take a photo of the monitor, darken the image to make it less clear, superimpose a time stamp (which does not occur on any other piece in their gallery) and post it to her scraps, however, not smart enough to not steal someone else's artwork...

I wanted to take the "high road" and give the person an opportunity to remove the piece themselves, so I sent a note asking it to be done. She has since logged in and ignored the note, so I am not going to wait weeks for her to get around to it. Theft is theft, and I've contacted dA officially.

I'd like to also say that I would in NO WAY be as upset had she just reproduced my exact design and posted it. Had I come across that, I would have just asked her to give me credit as to where she got the idea. Mimicry is a huge part in learning technique. But this is theft, cut and dry. She did not re-draw it, she just posted my work as her own.... I'm not pleased.  I hope she feels sheepish enough by all this to really know what the problem is with her choice and LEARN FROM IT. Recreate, don't rip off!

PS - I really don't want anyone to terrorize her, or flood her with nasty comments, but I do want to show you what I mean so I am including her thumb as well (for as long as it lives on dA, that is).  That being said, if you do not want the attention, you should not commit the action.
