So it seems that there is a lot of confusion about what is and is not allowed to do with our sprites. Some are under the impression that anything goes with them while some are scared that because we asked a few people to stop doing some things with our sprites that all uses of them are banned. That is not the case.

Our sprites are free use for non commercial purposes.

This means you can
*Make trot cycle ponies for yourselves or friends, just do not try to get anything out of it like money or points or what have you even if it is through voluntary donations. Also, please credit us, don't say you created it out from nothing.

*You can use our sprites in non-profit games or videos. Please just put us in the credits somewhere and once again keep it free for the community. We love seeing our stuff being used and enjoyed by everyone.

*You can edit existing ponies to make new poses, ponies, interactions, etc, but please give credit to the original animator. We made the bases to be used so please use them, but don't repost them as your own. Plus if you work on a canon pony, if they are done well enough you can have them put in the program itself. We like having new members and enjoy seeing the creativity of everyone here.

The one thing we don't like seeing are others stealing from us or trying to profit off unsuspecting or unknowing individuals. Desktop Ponies was  made to be used freely by everyone so please keep it free and credit the individuals who work hard to make these like you should any other artist who's work you use or modify.

She's selling basic trotters ar absurdly high prices (135-150 points each)
Status: She was notified (on his natural language to prevent any kind of misunderstandings) and we are awaiting for her reply.
Update: She took the commissions down.

A very disturbed kid with an obsession for stealing things and then stalking/harrasing people with endless insults for not letting her join their groups or for not stuffing her with gifts and praises: there's absolutely NO way to reason with this user as she immediately starts cursing people and then breaking into an hysterical drama show if she doesn't get what she wants or if she's asked to behave and follow this community's rules.
Status: reported and permablocked from this group since attempting to reason with her is just a waste of time.
Status update: Her main account was banned for being underrage, but she still has a dummy account here: stormyalexa08.deviantart.com/
2nd Update: She made a third account here cupcakes1500.deviantart.com/ and is using it to steal more art and send insults to whoever dared to not enable her horrible behavior or shower her with gifts and points.

Another thief with a gallery full of stolen material (even Deviantart's own icons and buttons she tries to claim as her own) which of course included some of our animations she stole and then claimed as hers while also disabled all comments to avoid being called out on her thefts and lies.
An attempt was made to reason with her, but she limited herself to hide the message and pretend she can keep stealing from others without any risk or concerns.


Wolfgirl2211
Offering (very crude) Desktop Ponies edits for sale at 40 points a piece, and trying to invent her own rules to avoid listening to any attempt to reason with her. (Befoee of that, she visited this group to try making us work with her, ignoring our "No requests" announcement, fully visible on our front page.)
Her final solution to the issue was making a very small comment about how the animated icons were not up for sale anymore, but still advertising them on her front page and refusing to remove them from there.
Status: she's still offering the icon comissions, and decided to make some crude suicidal artwork to try posing as a victim and distract the attention away from the real issue there.
Status update: finally removed the comissions from her list, but only after playing the victim card for all it's worth and still kept wording things out as if she were doing a huge favor to a group of mean, evil jerks.

Status: he has been notified, but no reply has been received at all from his side.

Status: was notified (in Spanish, his natural language) and has decided to play dumb and deaf to avoid deleting anything. He has been reported to the (many) groups he joined since, and they have been kicking him out since then, but he still refuses to delete anything from his gallery.

Status: After being caught, thethief claimed to have deletd the stolen animations (actually just tried to hide the folder, everything is still up) and then rushed to create a rule of her own stating that she could take and use whatever she wanted as long she admited it was not hers.
She has been ignoring all comments since then, and seems to have no intention to stop stealing from us and a lot of other users as well.
*Edit* She deleted part of the stolen loot but decided to keep playing dumb about the rest.

Mega-Hikaru
Chronical liar who stole and enlarged our animations to openly pass them as his own work, but claiming they were "drawings on graph paper"
Status: he's currenlty trying to resort to drama, lies and even trying to play fool while he moves the stolen loot to a different part of his account so he could keep it despite already being unmasked as a thief.
Also, he first tried to reinterprete Deviantart's rules to his liking as an excuse to "negotiate" things so he still could keep every piece of stolen pixel art on his gallery without being called a thief.
Update: He's trying to play the victim card with all of his might by claiming to be so hurt that he has been crying and willing to stab himself, plus he's trying to use GOD and the Bible to demand a complete pardon and compensations, all while he constantly lied about already having deleted the stolen animations, when he actually had no intention to do so. He's also running around fishing for pity and support from his friends, all while he lies and claims he's being harrased for no reason because he "never stole anything/had no idea that he was stealing/had no idea that stealing was bad"

Abusive member who raided our group's works to recolor them (including works clearly marked as not meant to be edited) and pass everything as her own.
Status: An attempt was done to reason with her, but she abused the hide and block buttons to hide the complains before uploading even more stolen animations to her gallery.

Agressive and self-servicing thief and scammer reselling our animations as commissions and redistributing our bases as her own. Was caught on early February and pretended to stop targeting our group's work, but then resumer her activities during April, this time claiming that since she had modified our material, they had been transformed into "Fanart" and retroactively belonged to her, however a quick link to Deviantart's F.A.Q was enough to destroy her excuse: FAQ #572: What does DeviantArt consider "Fan Art" to be?
Status: Currently ignoring everything she doesn't like and believing the problem will dissapear if she waits long enough. It's worth to menction that according to Deviantart's policy, art theft is a serious offense that will get you kicked out after three strikes (two or even one are enough if the offense is severe enough) and this person is already on her second strike.
Status update:She decided to abuse the hide and block buttons to hide all evidence of her theft and pretend nothing ever happened.


SnowofAutumn
Thief filling her account with stolen animations she intended to redistribute as her own free icons. She escaped to this dummy account to resume the thieving spree and tried to invent a story about having our permission to do whatever she wanted, which of course didn't worked.
Status: all the stolen material is still up on her original account. The dummy account was almost emptied out.


SuperFanaticGirl
Thief and liar offering resized Desktop Ponies as her own animations and not just demanding full credit, but also threatening people to not steal "her" stolen animations and even imposing her own set of rules to use what she stole.
Status: She escaped to a dummy account found here and is purposely ignoring the issue as long as she could.
All the stolen material is still up.


MissKicha
She sells Desktop Ponies recolors and abuses Deviantart's service to hide and block out posts and people alerting others about her scam.
Status: she was already notified about why what she is doing is wrong, but once again, she spammed the hide and block options to continue scamming more people.

Scoot-a-who
Her DA account is stuffed to the brim with stolen animations passed as her own so she could brag about being "a great pixel artist".
Status: She ran away after being caught and failing at hiding the whole situation. The stolen materil is still up.

Another newcomer DA with a gallery full of stolen Desktop Ponies animations which claimed as her own.
Status: She ran away after being discovered and all the stolen material is still up.
*Edit* She returned and put up a stubborn fight to keep claiming everything as her own work.

Newcomer DA member stuffing her gallery with Desktop Ponies animations with the hair removed that she intends to redistribute as her own "bases".
Status: Notified about her theft and asked to take down the stolen material, she's ignoring those requests to stall for time.
*Edit* She openly refused to take the stolen material down and claims that it now belongs to her.

Khorogh
This previously reported scammer is up to no good again, this time using the excuse of "I can't charge you for a trotter but you can donate points as payment" as a non existant loophole to go around limitations. Previous attempts to reason with him ended with him raging and spamming the block button to prevent people from adding a different opinion than his own.
Status: His illegal commisions are up again.
*Edit* He brought a group of former thieves and scammers to raid this DA group with insults, threats and demands to change our group's policies to suit their own needs and make life easier for them. They have been openly attacking the group and spreading insults, misinformation and distorted versions of the incident in order to fish for extra support and demonize Desktop Ponies as revenge for not getting things their way.

Submitted Desktop Pony animations as her own. When she was discovered she began to harass people, hide the incriminatory posts and make upl lies/drama to fish for support.
*Status* reported to Deviantart's Modstaff.
*Edit* The thief down the stolen animations, which is cool. Unfortunately, she is now lying and attempting to reupload the stolen material by claiming it to be "gifts".
*Edit2* Eventually she gave up and took everything down, but she mentioned intentions of creating a new account to escape there and resume everything, because she insisted of being the real victim and that nothing of what she did was wrong at all.

Generic thief caught uploading stolen animations and playing the "Oh, I worked so hard to make these!" song. After being exposed she kept all the stolen material up and her solution for everything is simply hiding any posts calling her out on her thefts.
*Status* reported to Deviantar's modstaff, they still haven't taken any action against the thief.


Twilight-S twilight-s.deviantart.com/ is another thief commented on ponychan.
She stole a few things and after attempting to ignore everyone's complains, she panicked and ran away.
Unfortunately, the stolen material is still up, and her account is still active.

Status: DA staff deleted the stolen material, but she and her account are still active.

She stole a large number of DP animations, labeled them as "icons" and demanded payment because "she needed the money". She claimed to be very poor and almost starved, but a few conversations among her friends revealed she just wanted free money to spend.
Status: she panicked after being discovered and after a few attempts to justify herself, she deactivated her account and ran away to a new account found here: alienmink.deviantart.com/ where she is STILL trying to charge for using her stolen recolors and horrible splices.
Status on her secound account: all the stolen material is still up and the scam continues.
*Edit* Monkeyjay, the creator of the original animations and bases used for her scam paid a visit to her and politely made her stop, but the thief is actively trying to find new ways to go around the non-profit copyright license to resume the scam cycle once again.
*Edit 2* She made a third account here faetouched.deviantart.com/jour… and has been raging about her makeshift store being shut down, while STILL keeps trying to scam people by selling even more animations made with stolen bases, as she believes that altering an old base or combining pieces stolen from different Desktop Ponies counts as "creating" her own. Also, she is still using the excuse about being unemployed to justify herself, which she has been using since 2011.

This guy has been brough out several times. He charges money for "his" animations, which is not something the original creators want. Even though he makes OC ponies (which is allowed), the original artists do not want their templates or sprites used for commerical profit.
Status: A lot of the sprite work is still on his account. he has been contacted numerous times about the issue, but he ignores every message and sics his friends against whoever tries to bring out his theft and scam scheme.

She ignored all comments about her theft and decided to solve the problem by abandoning her account.

Fluttershyyaybrony
Another thief and impostor trying to fill her account with our animations. Her excuse is that she didn't stole from US, she actually stole from so the accusation is not correct.
Status: Currently lying by claiming to have deleted what she stole: instead, she just moved the animations to another part of her account to hide them and still keep things going her way, her excuse for this is claiming she doesn't know how to delete submissions. (But she had no problem with the much more complex task of moving and hiding submissions around her account.)
*Update 1* Not surprisingly, she decided to change her mind and swear everything is 100% her own work, so she didn't stole a thing (despite herself previously admiting she stole) followed by a tantrum and fake tears show to try to fish for pity and support despite the large number of irate people asking her to take down what she stole from them.
She also tries to guilt trip everyone by claiming she's just a little, innocent girl, so she can't be held responsible for anything she does, therefore anyone asking her to delete the stolen loot is the real bad person there.
*Edit 3* comments.deviantart.com/4/2660… <-- She openly admited being just eight years old, so now we are forced to file a COPPA report because by law, she cannot stay for a moment more here.
*Edit4* COPPA banned, unfortunately she never admited having done anything wrong until the very end.

Stole and reuploaded the entire Zodiac Ponies pack as her own, among other trotters and misc characters stolen from Desktop Ponies as well.
Status: She was contacted as soon the theft was discovered, she limited herself to log out and run away.
*Edit* She desperately tried to pose as a victim of "hacking" to pin the blame on someone else, and while she deleted the stolen material, she is evidently not repented at all.

Had a ridiculous amount of stolen animations passed as her own, with the habitual bragging and lying about being a great artist.
Status: She has been contacted by the real authors of the stolen material and has begrudgingly taking down -some- of the stolen material while stubbornly tries to keep as many stolen animations she could.
*Edit* DA admins intervened her account and took EVERYTHING down, so she retailed by hiding ALL of her page comments to pretend the issue never happened.
*Edit 2* She deactivated her account and escaped away.
*Edit 3* she reactivated her account and abused Deviantart's service to block/hide anything that could tip off others of what she did.


Thief's name: crizcamacho
Stuffed his gallery with stolen animations passed as his own and even submited individual, resized frames as his own "drawings"
When he was caught he denied the theft to the end, demanding to be left alone, using semantics to try to confuse the issue and finally demanding to be told which animations were stolen because according to him, he never knew about Desktop Ponies and the only victim of unfair bullying was him.
Status: He decided to hide all posts calling him on his theft (and especially the ones displaying his horrible, selfish and agressive behavior) and claimed to "leave forever" for entirely different reasons.

Status: Reported to DA and waiting for their reply.
*Edit* After playing dumb, she begrudgingly took down the stolen material (she even tried to sell prints based on stolen art and animations) but she insists of acting like the real victim and has shown no regret at all. She later bounced to an alt account found here: guaguitha123.deviantart.com/ where she keeps claiming to not being the same person despite the obvious pile of evidence against her, including the deletion of certain posts where she admited  to own both accounts.
*Edit 2* She created a THIRD account found here princesscadence321.deviantart.… which she used to defend herself and hoard the art she was forced to delete.
*Edit3* She created a FOURTH account here rainbowcooler.deviantart.com/ to harass and stalk the people who spotted her as a thieving liar AND also used it to defend herself, demanding people to "stop bullying her" and demanding gifts, favors and being accepted back on the groups where she was kicked out for her horrible behavior.
*Status*: Permabanned from rejoining the official DA FiM group of her own country, her family was alerted of her unapropiate behavior, but she continues stealing art (This time some seapony vectors) stalking people, playing victim and labeling any unfavorable comments as "Spam" which is a flagrant abuse of Deviantart's service and a direct violation of the community's rules.

Stuffed his gallery with our animations and offered them as his own "free icons." After being contacted and asked to remove the stolen material, he refused to listen to any reasoning and tried to play the victim card, asking everyone to leave him alone.
*Status* Reported to DA mods for theft and awaiting for their reply.
*Edit* As usual, the thief also decided to play dumb and then act all smug, as he claims that the people he stole from are not the real creators of the animations, and when he was directly asked to remove them from his DA, his only answer was a smug "Nope!"
*Edit2* Turns out she's a little girl, actually just 11 years old,so she has been reported to DA staff to get a COPPA ban.
*Edit3* She was COPPA banned for good. All the stolen art remained up and she completely refused to stop causing problems or listen to others until the very end.

A Russian girl caught red-handed when she was just beginning to steal DeathPwny's animations. She made habitual lies, such as "I worked so hard to give you this, you should be grateful" and "Your acussation hurt me so much that I cried!" despite having several posts on other people's DA accounts where she begged people to teach her how to create pony animations because she has absolutely no idea.
Status: Reported to DA for theft, the thief keeps screaming her lies (In russian) and keeps ignoring all comments or proofs of her theft.
*Edit* The thief created a sockpuppet account here: to defend herself and support her lies, the alt account has been reported to the groups she attempted to rejoin.
*Edit2* Both accounts were intervened by Deviantart's staff and were completely emptied out of all of it's stolen art, apparently the thief decided to run away.

Stole practically ALL of our animations and invented the typical story about a "cousin" helping her to create all of those animations, then has been actively avoiding questions as people grew suspicious of her lies and contradictions.
Status: She tried to hide the posts calling her on her thefts and tried to post a bigger pile of lies to justify herself, only to switch to a pile of fake apologies and fake sob stories. Eventually she panicked, deactivated her account and ran away.
*Edit* She reactivated her account, hid ALL posts calling her out on her theft, blocked out ALL the users who weren't "nice" and is trying to act as the one and only victim, claiming she was "betrayed" by the person who reported her for being a thief. May be worth to keep an eye on her, as she's obviously unrepented and may try to steal again.


RainyHooves rainyhooves.deviantart.com/ was caught stuffing her gallery with stolen animations, re-offering them as her own and after being discovered as a thief, she limited herself to insult people and flag their posts as "Spam" whenever they comment about the stolen animations.
She does not care at all and has claimed to do whatever she wants as it can be seen on this quote here:

Status: Reported to DA mods, the members she stole from (Botchan and StarStepPony) were contacted as well.

*Edit2* DA staff removed the remaining stolen material but now the thief is uploading recolored animations as her own and behaving like a smug troll to challenge people for a fight.

Status: reported to DA Modstaff and awaiting for their intervention.

*Edit 2* He went to Ponychan and apologized for what he did.

Stealing sprites and claiming them as her own. Also trying to play the I didn't steal them but everyone else who has desktop pony sprites must be stealing them to try and get the focus off her and get others in trouble.
*edit* After realizing she had been reported as a thief, she decided to spam this group with threats and deranged insults out of revenge, so she was permanently blocked out from posting here again.
*second edit* She is so blind with rage that she is now posting death threats against our group. Isn't that a bannable offense according to DA's rules?
*Third edit* She removed all the stolen material, which is good. But she only did it because she ran out of excuses and she acts as if deleting what she stole counts as a favor she's doing to her victims, whuch is not cool.
*FOURTH edit. Seriously, what the hell.* She decided to stalk and annoy people to no end to get all references of her thefts and inexcusable behavior removed from this group, never accepting a "no" for answer and refusing to understand WHY she doesn't gets what she wants.
On top of that, she was seen visiting Ponychan, posing as her "sister" to lie and harras out the other group reporting her thefts, demanding to be forgiven under the excuse she had "special problems so she wasn't responsible of anything" but the same speech patterns gave her away on the spot.
*Final edit* She gave up and deleted the stolen material by herself, but then insisted of being the real victim and even demanded to get all proofs of her theft and horrible behavior deleted from this group, so she was blocked out for life.

She stole a dozen or so of DP animations, claimed to have created them all and went absolutely hysterical when she was caugh: she deleted messages, blocked out people who called her oun on her lies, broke into a string of sob stories and even harassed people on their own DA accounts out of kiddy rage and (apparently) some mental inbalances she suffers from.
Status: All the stolen material was taken down by DA Mods and tried to get pity for what had happened to her.

She stole animations belonging to PonyNoia, Deathpony and Dogostar.
She tries to pose as the original creator of the stolen material, and blocked out/deleted anything that could prove otherwise, she even harrased Deathpony on his own account, accusing him of being the real thief and attempted to sic DA Mods on him out of revenge.
Status: The stolen content is still up, DA Mods still haven't taken actions againt the thief.
*edit* She's uploading even MORE stolen art and animations to her gallery. Any comment regarding her thefts are immediately hidden and the poster is blocked out, so is obvious she really doesn't care at all and wants to fill her pockets with scammed money as much as she can. (Her paid prints gallery was reported for stolen art as well.)
*Second edit* DA staff finally reviewed her account and after declaring her behavior as "completely unacceptable" she was banned for life from this community.  
*Third edit* She had a dummy account found here: human19900.deviantart.com/ which she used to go around her ban to start the cycle once again.
*Status* DA staff was alerted and her new account, plus her IP range were banned and filtered out for life.

She stole material that attempted to pass as her own AND demanded payment for using it. Her goal was scamming 1,000 DA credits so she could get a premium DA account for herself, and stood so low as to inventing a story about a friend who needed the money to afford a surgery. When she was caught, she deleted all comments accusing her and then disabled all comments on her page.
Status: DA staff deleted her account and banned her for life.

She stole material from StarStepPony's DA account, then went hysterical when her theft was made public and tried to get SSP in trouble by claiming he was the real thief, then tried to get everypony's pity by claiming "she was only a little girl, she isn't responsible of her actions" and finally tried to tardrage her way out of the mess.
Status: DA staff deleted all the stolen material, and the thief was banned for life.

A drama queen girl running a makeshift store using Desktop Ponies bases (among others) to sell crude recolors to naive DA users. After being contacted and explained that Desktop Ponies cannot be used for any kind of paid commision, she went on a post hiding, user blocking and even journal and DA entry deleting spree to hide any proof of being called out for her scam, and she completely refused to answer any new comments or warnings about her unapropiate behavior.
After finally being reported to DA staff she went on an hysterical downspiral of lies, drama, rage and manipulation to try to dodge all responsability AND keep her makeshift store, then (after fishing for support using more lies) her and her friends went on a journal raid to spam all people involved on her report with flames and death threats as revenge.
On top of that she tried to invent stories of false harrasement to get people banned, and even claimed her intentions of making dummy accounts in case of being banned for her horrible behavior, so she could return anytime to restart the cycle once again.
*Status* Eventually her friends realized she had lied to them and stopped the harrasement, offering apologies and claiming they only had acted according to the lies I-love-art-29 had told them. The thief paniked and took down all of her illegal submissions, and went on a drama spree where she raked up to 368 journal posts in less than a day to attempt to apologize, but even then all of her apologies were worded in away where she denied her lies and claimed to be the only victim, because everything was just "a big confusion." All comments calling her out on this are immediately deleted and the user, blocked out so only her twisted version of the story could be seen.
