The Sleeping Tiger

A majestic Bengal tiger rests on an ornate stone platform in a lush, overgrown jungle. The powerful predator seems to have made a bed of some lost ruins in the deep forest. Behind it, sunlight cuts the canopy of trees. Best move along quietly else you may wake this awesome hunter.

One of my first large oil pastel works depicted a tiger in a jungle. The paper on it started to buckle, though, so I decided to mount it on wood. Unfortunately, the paper wrinkled and bubbled badly during the mounting process. It was a disaster and essentially ruined the work. So with a show pending, I had no tiger works ready. So, I decided to create a new one. This one was inspired by my family vacation in 2025 to visit the Animal Kingdom at Disney World. It turns out, that I am much more happy with this one.

The original is a 24"x20" work on archival quality sanded paper made using Sennelier oil pastels and Faber Castell Polychromos colored pencils.
