The Lost Temple - matte painting tutorial [FR] by DesignSpartan The Lost Temple - matte painting tutorial [FR] by DesignSpartan
I noticed I forgot to share with you my last matte painting done for a tutorial. Nothing extremely original, just a lost temple in a mystic jungle. :)
Unfortunately the tutorial is only commented in French but here it is: designspartan.com/tutoriels/tu…

Photoshop, ~6 hours
I hope you like it! :)

Hi, awesome work! Is it possible to follow the tutorial for us English speakers? ;)

Unfortunately, it hasn't been recorded in English (my spoken English sucks :p) but if you want, you can still watch it and cut the sound haha
Maybe it'll be translated and recorded again in the future, who knows...

Anyway, thank you very much for your interest. :)

Thanks for replying :) So I can follow it and understand with just the visuals?

Yes I guess you can, the video is 3hours and 15mn long, every action is recorded. The important actions or advices are even shortly mentioned in writing so you'd be able to pause the video and translate it. If you're really interested, I can offer you a much lower price as you wouldn't benefit from audio commentaries. What do you think?

That would be fantastic if you could, thank you! I'm very much interested, how much and how should I proceed with payment?

beautiful work! It seems to me that light rays and sky don't exactly match, but maybe it's just me. :XD:

Thanks! Really? why ? If there's a hole in the clouds on the top far right (that we can't see), it seems possible to me.

I cannot put my finger on it, that's why I said "maybe it's just me" :D
The way the clouds are lit doesn't look to me as if there could be such a hole, also the rays kind of appear out of nowhere. And especially the clouds behind the temple look like they are lit from behind...?

Hmm honestly I don't know! At the moment it just felt right to me and more interesting but you might be right.

well I could be wrong too, I always find it hard to tell from the clouds alone the proper direction of light

yep because the clouds themselves can change the direction of light.
