While there is a great deal of artistic freedom allowed in designing your Tokota, there are several markings that must go above or below others.
Unless their individual marking guides specify otherwise, any two markings within the same group may go above or below each other - designer’s choice.
Be sure to read over the individual marking guides for special interactions between markings.

Modifiers

Modifiers are markings that affect the design and markings as a whole, often changing the hue or saturation.
These markings sit “above” all others, their effects seeping into all layers of the design. For example, Lilac affects base coat and all markings, desaturating and adding blue tones.

Lilac  |  Rose  |  Cream  |  Grey

Upper Markings

These markings sit above the base coat and all Lower Markings.
Any two Upper Markings may go above or below each other, or combine together if using the same color.

Piebald  |  Restricted Piebald  |  Van Gogh Piebald  |  Monet Piebald
Vitiligo  |  Restricted Seal

- Marked, Shadowmarks, Rainmarks, Bearmarks, Flecking, Points, Minimal White may optionally show above Restricted Seal, as these markings show on Seal white.

Minimum Marked

Minimum Marked sits above all Lower Markings, and below all Upper Markings.

With a couple exceptions:
- Minimum Marked may optionally show above
Restricted Seal
Starmarks may optionally show above Minimum Marked

Lower Markings

These markings sit above the base coat, but below all Upper Markings.
Unless their guides specify otherwise, any two Lower Markings may go above or below each other.

Minimal White
Marked  |  Collar  |  Accents  |  Pangare  |  Blanket  |  Saddle  |  Sable  |  Flecking
Rainmarks  |  Bearmarks  |  Dun  |  Merle  |  Points  |  Starmarks  |  Dapple  |  Thylacine
Barring  |  Wolverine  |  Shadowmarks  |  Roan  |  Lacing
Extended Marked  |  Extended Dun  |  Creeping Points

There are certain exceptions, which are explained further in individual marking guides. For example:
- Marked and Shadowmarks may optionally show above Restricted Seal
- When Blanket and Saddle are both present, Saddle must sit above Blanket
- Dun dorsal stripe must sit above Sable, Saddle, and Blanket but may be below other markings
- Pangare must sit below Accents unless they are the same color

Seal

Seal doesn’t fall into any of the above categories. It covers the entire Tokota, sitting above Upper Markings, but then allows some Lower Markings to show above it in specific ways.

How would Restricted Seal affect Piebald exactly? I'm a little confused..
