I'm just gonna stick this here. If you're wondering, "what the hell is Toki Pona?", here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokipona If you're still wondering "what the hell is this?", Toki Pona is a syllabic language like Japanese/Hawaiian/Eskimo, so I decided to apply Hiragana to Toki Pona's sound system because I have absolutely nothing better to do right now. Soon I'll tell y'all about what happened over Thanksgiving.

此り良去私。(に り ぽな たわ み.) I think kana are perfectly suited to toki pona. Only 1 character needed per word, & for transliterated words like country names you have katakana, (which is already used for that) or I suppose you could use hiragana as above.

The katakana version is:

アa イ i ウ u エ e オ o
ヤ ya ユ yu イェ ye ヨ yo
カ ka キ ki ク ku ケ ke コ ko
ラ ra リ ri ル ru レ re ロ ro
マ ma ミ mi ム mu メ me モ mo
ナ na ニ ni ヌ nu ネ ne ノ no ン n

サ sa シ s(h)i ス su セ se そ so
タta ツ t(s)u テ te ト to
ワ wa ウィ wi ウェ we

Good idea. I, however, think wi and we should two ways of spelling because ゐ and ゑ are old characters and some people may not like it.
wi:ゐ and うぃ
we:ゑ and うぇ

Japan emote I agree with Nine-K . I like ゐ/ヰ & ゑ/ヱ for space saving purposes, because they save a character over うぃ/ウィ and うぇ/ウェ, but obviously it's 4 extra characters to learn. If you do wish to type the old characters the romaji key combinations is 'wye' & 'wyi'. My Japanese keyboard has a setting to input katakana when I hold shift (as if I were typing a capital letter).
