Description
Athena, one of the twelve Olympians and daughter of Zeus. Goddess of wisdom, logic, warfare and crafts.
Unlike her brother Ares, the God of War, Athena represents the cold, calculating aspect of warfare, implying military strategy rather than bloodshed and conquest. She is very intellectual and usually appears to aid the many heroes of Greek myth in their long journeys. She was also responsible for transforming Medusa into a horrifying creature, to be then slayed by the hero Perseus. After he brought her head to the goddess, Athena placed it on her shield. This is what SMITE's model showcases here, integrating Medusa's head directly into the design of the shield, a choice which I really appreciated. Also note the many owl motifs on her armour design, representing Athena's connection to wisdom.
