Ok, this is my mixed media project for one of my classes, digital illustration I think. Who cares, I just know it's one of the projects I gotta do and it's due Tuesday. Blame Justice League for making me start only today. lol.
Anyways, here's the deail. The concept behind the design is to communicate more than one message. At first glance, Yes, I hope it communicates that it's about slavery and a call to stop it. But on a second look, I hope that viewer would see that it's the corporate industries that contribute to slavery in the 21st century. If you read the type I put in (not the article 4 statement, the other content), you'd see that alot of money is made of slavery and you must ask yourself, where does the money go? For instance, does Nike ring a bell?
So to communicate all that what I did was to make hands out of buildings or vice versa. The chain that binds the hand ties those corporate industries to the fact that they play a role in slavery. Make sense? Well I hope so because I've learned that there's 2 types of design: pretty and smart. I hoping I nailed the smart type of design here.
Though this project required research, I designed based on common sense and basic knowledge of slavery. Hey...it's no rocket science and I'm at liberty to communicate my feelings exactly.
All comments welcomed and appreciated especially since I missed the class where I was suppose to present my draft for feedback from the lecturer. So I'm depending on you guys for construtive feedback to help me gain a good mark. And let's not forget I'm dealing with a teacher who apparantly marks me hard and give my work a lower mark than I think it actually deserves.

BG - Painting on watercolour material.
Tear - photography (might replace with scanned tear)
illustration - illustrator
photomanipulation - photoshop: the tear required alot of manipulating,
