Scratchboard: Washington National Cathedral by DentistChicken Scratchboard: Washington National Cathedral by DentistChicken

I personally enjoyed working on this, but at the same time it stressed me out so badly.
This was an art project, and it's estimated that I worked 13+ hours on it? Not sure about total time, but that's how it was. I finished this before my spring break. So far, it's the only art project I've stayed after school to finish.

I've noticed how often I have looked at my work and have been saying to myself "all I make is stupid art" but then this just gives me both life and hope. I am willing to bet that I will never be able to do something like this ever again, though. It is a nice change from the colorful fan art, the black and white traditional. (I really like looking at this.)

I tried my best to give it a clean border. The scanner also decided to stretched the right-most part of the picture, so I had to fix that, too, though it isn't completely fixed.

Thank you! I got some pretty neato comments from her and some classmates and other people, but no extra credit, just a 100.
Aww, why thank you! I'm pretty sure the reason i'm somewhat lazy now is because of the 13+/- hours i put in this lol

The space under the central arch has a nice sense of atmosphere and depth, also the rose window's perspective must have been difficult to render accurately, but you've done a very convincing job.

I'm not sure if the paper you're describing is the same stuff I've experienced, but it takes ink just as well as it lets go of it, so there's no need to worry about mistakes because you can brush on some ink and start again. That makes it a pretty workable medium. You're probably already aware of this, but I think it helps me relax when I work to remember that mistakes aren't final.

Thank you very much!

I didn't know that about the ink, and I'm glad to have learned it, as what I worked with was most likely the paper you've used. To be honest, this was actually my first attempt at this medium. It is more relaxing for me to know now that the mistakes aren't final, and that they can be fixed.
Thank you!

Wow, I'm really impressed with the final product! It really does pop. The fact that the only space with a lot of black is the space behind the window is really impressive; you spent a lot of time. Thirteen hours. Dang. My favorite part of the piece has to be the archway that surrounds the window. Gives it a very 3-D effect.

Thanks. Although, I may have spent more/less time on it. 13 was an estimation. The archway and the window are probably my favorite parts of it!
Thank you.
