Looks

Dice has shoulder-length black hair with some defined curls, but her hair is mostly a mess with thick tangles. She has a somewhat round face and light blue almond-shaped eyes. Her complexion is rather pale as she spends a lot of time wandering at night rather than when the sun is shining, and the time she does spend outside is not enough to tan her.

Build

She has a lean and athletic body type that is good for hiding in small spaces and running from danger. She's also on the smaller side of the height scale, and after the first few, she does not take height jokes too well.

Scars

Hands | She has small scars on the palms of her hands from mishaps with her daggers from when she first started using them, but she generally does her best to not let them show.

Accessories

She wears black, fingerless gloves that cover her palms and forearms, and she wears a belt with her daggers attached. She ditched her old, noisy, metal bracelets for the gloves for a multitude of reasons.

Occupation: Con Artist

Using dice or a deck of cards, Dice may convince you to make a bet with her using money. The thing is, she already knows the outcome to what she's betting on thanks to some tricks using sleight of hand. She does this to con people out of money, or anything of value to either her or her victim. If she cared about making a good difference, she'd be a regular magician or even entertain at birthday parties.


Occupation: Pick-Pocket

When walking the streets, perusing the market, or grabbing a pizza on Nosh Street, Dice looks for easy targets to steal from. Little old ladies and clueless mages don't know what hit them until it is too late. Her cuts from offloading what items she's stolen to the black market are her primary sources of income.

She enjoys causing trouble, and she will take any opportunity to cause a problem for anyone who sets the opportunity up for her.

Dice is pretty handy with the skill of deception, and she usually gets things to go her way in a subtle manner. Her main portrayal of this trait is from her use of sleight of hand.

Since she sticks to her ways of tricking people out of their money, she spends a lot of time on the streets. She studies the way they work, the street as a collective of people and things. She knows her way around Neustadt, and she uses her knowledge of lesser known passages to her advantage.

To keep up with not only the world around her but also her tricks to confuse others, she thinks quick and tries to have quick reactions to ensnare her victim's money. She's also capable of following people who talk fast, and those who change topics quickly.

She tends to be easily angered by others, or even an object if it gets in her way. Her way of showing this anger is through passive means unless circumstances prove useful for starting violence. She makes threats of physical damage, but most of the time she avoids acting on them. Some cases prove otherwise.

She tends to keep herself from getting close or attached to people she meets. The reason why isn't clear, but it can be attributed to being raised in the world of illegal markets, or from losing those close to her when she was so young.

She dislikes giving people reasons for her actions or behaviors. She also dislikes people knowing too much about her; all anyone should know is her nickname, Dice, but anything beyond that is a web of lies she tells to put up a façade. She knows everyone who knows the real information, but if someone who shouldn’t know anything reveals that they do know, she might become violent. Extremely violent.

M O R A L I T Y

Despite Dice being a villain who works with tricks of the mind to get what she wants, she does set limits for herself when dealing with anyone and everyone around her in regards to violent means. Dice works for her own personal gain over hurting others for the fun of it; although she does have her moments of hurting others, she typically inflicts harm in retaliation to something she's either experienced first-hand, or something she's witnessed.

She loves to entertain kids. If kids come by to view her tricks, she makes sure to entertain them. She never cons kids out of valuables; in fact, if she makes a bet, she purposefully makes one with the kid that she will lose. Kids who come by to see her street magic remind her of herself.

Going hand-in-hand with her agnosiophobia, she has a fear of fainting or passing out.

She's always wanted to become an entrepreneur or do something with animals. She has sort of accomplished the dream of becoming an entrepreneur, but not in the way she would have originally wanted to.

Dice would like to become more independent and self supportive, but she would like to adventure, too. Her love for pets may also lead to her working with creatures to some regard, or opening a petting zoo.

Dark colors appeal to her more than lighter ones as they’re easier on the eyes and don't show stains as easy.

Absentmindedly kicking objects on her path in front of her (stones and acorns, that type of thing) while she walks down the path as a subconscious quirk.

Dry foods are preferred over moist ones because of overall texture.

Pets. She absolutely loves pets. She’d do anything for them.

Dislikes

Conflicting smells irritate her.

Bugs creep her out from her time on the streets and in the old sewers.

People giving her nicknames ending with an exaggerated "ee" sound (Ex. Dicey) (with exception of the Racketeer as it's a special nickname).

People who can pick up on her tricks to con people and ruin the "magic" for others, especially to ruin it for children.

People who con her out of her money outside of her own terms.

Anyone that hurts children is dead to her.

Sample:

   No matter how warm the covers were, they had no soothing effect. Candice remained rocking in her bed, fearful of what may be lurking outside. She managed to stop crying, but her sniffling turned into ragged breathing as she tried to calm herself.

   When the sun comes up, the bad man won’t be there.

   As soon as the dawn had hit after the blood-soaked incident, after she had cried her heart out over the unmoving bodies, she knew she needed help. She needed to find help.

   The guards here are good; remember Peyton? If anything bad happens, and I’m not here, go to Peyton. They’ll help you with anything that you need. Okay? Never hesitate, and do not talk to anyone else.

   She pulled herself from under the covers and ran down the stairs. Candice carefully treaded past the body of Blight and exited through the front door, leaving her mother and Blight in the house knowing that they would be better off there. She started running once her feet hit the path that took her from her house to the streets of Stanworth. People looking on gave her horrified expressions as she passed them in her blood-soaked clothes and blood-smeared hands and arms.

   Her memory had always been rather good; remembering faces had been no issue, and once she followed a certain path, Candice would almost always know where it was and where it took her. The roads crisscrossed at unplanned intersections, zigzagging and turning needlessly. Stanworth was not organized. It had helped her mother from time to time when they got lost on the way home from wherever in town they had gone.

   Sprinting, she dodged past people on the streets until she found the last location she remembered seeing that guard.
