honestly? I don't remember... this was made 5 years ago. Maybe in my head at that time she would work as a skin for classic Tawna, but today I think they should both be in as separate characters.
i think I did this in the beta days of this game... I entered a match, used some option to remove the stage or make the background all black, or something like this, and made the gif of her walking animation.
yeah, since they didn't do anything with Sorrel, this was the perfect character to pick and give some hidden backstory that would be useful for this story. And yeah, I made this to be a short time after the ToP, since I think the anime just ended and all the ToP characters were in my mind at that time.
This was in 2018, so to be honest I don't remember much (and I missed part of the story I made), all I remember is that the characters were chosen by the Daishinkan because of their specific skills, which would be useful for this specific mission, or something like that. There would be other side-groups for sure, but not all the fighters from the ToP would be part of this story.
