I told you so! XD

So, on to the next topic, what is your opinion on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and the original Mario Kart 8?

I definitely like Mario Kart 8 but I don't feel like there's enough in Deluxe for me to drop $60+ into a game I already technically own. I'll just stick with the Wii U version on this one.

Vanilla Mario Kart 8 is enjoyable, but there are obvious problems that prevent it from being better than Mario Kart Wii.

First off, why is there THREE Mario and Peach clones in the roster? I can understand Baby Mario and Metal Mario, since they debuted in Yoshi's Island and Mario Kart 64, respectively, but Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach should have been alternate costumes for Mario and Peach instead of roster fillers. And Pink Gold Peach just isn't necessary. In fact, she's just Metal Mario in Peach form. Baby Rosalina? What's next? Baby Waluigi? Baby Villager? Baby Mii?! There are way better characters that could be great additions to the roster, like Diddy Kong, Funky Kong, Petey Piranha, Kamek, Mona, Kirby, Pikachu, Birdo, and many others.

Secondly, the original Mario Kart 8 didn't have real battle courses. Instead, it had 8 race tracks as battle courses. It's less fun popping other people's balloons while on a race track, because your opponents will be far away from you at times, while real battle courses let you easily pursue them.

Another problem with this game is that the stats of the cars, bikes, ATVs, wheels, and gliders are not really different from each other. For example, the B Dasher is similar to the P Wing, the Mach 8, and a few other heavy karts, statwise. Sadly, the only vehicle that stands out from the rest is the Master Cycle, which has unique stats. From Double Dash all the way to 7, every car and bike has their own set of stats. Mario Kart Wii is the best when it comes to stat uniqueness, although the Spear, Jetsetter, Sprinter and the Sneakster are all piles of shit because of it.

The live music is okay, but I wouldn't call them musical masterpieces, especially when comparing them to the music from previous Mario Kart games, but that's just my opinion.

Vanilla Mario Kart 8 is fun and enjoyable, but not in the same level as Mario Kart Wii, DS, Double Dash, and even 64. In fact, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is one of those games I'll get for Christmas along with the Switch, same for ARMS and Super Mario Odyssey, if they're good games that is.
