Description

Greetings my little Implings!

So something you should know about me, is that I’m an early 2000’s kid. N’ because of that you bet your sweet a*s I was one of those kids who was exposed to the cinematic masterpiece known as “ The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl”. Not for those of you who haven’t seen it let me give you a brief summary, the movie was released in 2005 n’ it stared this kid name Max n’ who writes down his dreams in what he calls a dream journal one of those dreams being these 2 superheroes named Sharkboy n’ Lavagirl, one day the heroes magically end up becoming real n’ tell Max that they have to come w/ them to save their home planet Drool from this thing called the darkness. So yeah that’s basically the gist of it, but we’re not here to discuss about that nonono, we’re going to focusing on the sequel that recently came out this year “We Can Be Heroes”...if you can CALL IT A SEQUEL!!

Ok listen We Can Be Heroes isn’t a bad movie on its own, it’s a fairly decent movie that I do believe can be something worthy to watch w/ the whole family...however I’m terms of it being a so called sequel to Sharkboy n’ Lavagirl...not so much. I mean the main reason I’m doing this is because a couple days ago me n’ 2 of my friends were taking about We Can Be Heroes, how it’s so far off from the original canon of the first film, how it barely even showed Sharkboy n’ Lavagirl to the point where Sharkboy didn’t even talk at all, n’ that we wanted to do a redo of the sequel...n’ so that’s what I did.

Mainly w/ the character Guppy, know for those of you who are unaware, Guppy is actually the daughter of Sharkboy n’ Lavagirl n’ was not only one of the characters on the We Can Be Heroes movie but also one of 2 reasons why I wanted to see this movie ( n’ you can probably guess as to what the 2 reason is ) she also can control water which to me it makes sense because since her mom can control lava n’ her dad is a shark it would make sense that Guppy’s power would be to control water. However surprisingly, not even she was the main focus of the movie! It was just this other girl named Missy! But that’s about change because in my version, not only would Guppy be one of the main characters but she would also be a little older, basically around the same age as Max was during the original movie ( which was 10 ) Now don’t get me wrong I think the girl who played Guppy is adorable but in terms of making this redo similar to the original I have to keep some elements in, n’ that is to make Guppy the same age as the protagonist in the first movie. I also changed her outfit to be somewhat like a mix between her parents outfits while also giving it a water aesthetic because I still want to keep her water manipulation, I also changed the color of her hair to be blue w/ some black roots showing because i want to make her look more like the daughter of Sharkboy n’ Lavagirl, this also includes the outfit change.

But yeah I’m really excited to show this to my friends n’ i hope you guys enjoy my attempt of revamping the Sharkboy n’ Lavagirl sequel. Now this isn’t much n’ I’m pretty sure i might draw more art specifically around Guppy but I hope you like it non the less.

Actually, it's not a sequel at all. SharkBoy and LavaGirl weren't even supposed to be in We Can Be Heroes in the first place.

Rodriguez said so himself:

"People get confused because the SharkBoy and LavaGirl characters are in We Can Be Heroes and think that it’s a sequel to The Adventures of SharkBoy and LavaGirl, but it’s not. In the original film, those characters are actually from the dream world and not the real world, but I made them real just for this to legitimize the adult team. Now people could say, ‘Oh, there are two characters I’ve heard of before.’"

"It was never meant as a sequel to that movie. This was always an original film for Netflix. So I asked Taylor Dooley if she could be a lead. It wasn’t about them, so there wasn’t a lot of dialogue. There’s a little bit with her and her connection with the daughter, and she was up for coming back, coloring her hair. But I did call Taylor [Lautner] to let him know, 'There’s no dialogue. It’s not about the parents. It’s not really a sequel.'"

"So in the original script, they weren’t in there because I wanted to deliver an original story and then once that was done, I said ‘I would love to try and borrow from the other studio, the characters of SharkBoy and LavaGirl’ and so I put them on the adult team [thinking] that will help legitimise the adult team."
