Miraculous ladybug redesign

So I’m going to be doing a fun little series in which I’m redesigning characters from Miraculous Ladybug. Now this was heavily inspired by a YouTuber name OrdinaryDreamer w/ her video titled “fine I’ll rewrite miraculous” n’ pink.cherry.pills on Instagram w/ redesign of the characters. I highly recommend checking both of them out if you are interested.

First,let’s start off w/ the basics, what is Miraculous Ladybug? Miraculous ladybug is a French show that aired in 2015, the show was about 2 teenagers Marinette Dupain-Cheng n’ Adrien Agreste. Marinette an ordinary girl who wants to become a fashion designer while also being very clumsy, n’ Adrien a famous fashion model who’s lived most of his life sheltered by his father Gabriel Agreste. One day some old man by the name of Master Fu, decides to give these 2 random teenagers a box, that contained a magical pieces of jewelry called “the miraculous”, which have magical creatures living inside of it called the kwami. The kwamis are essentially these little space creature things that take the form of the animal/insect the miraculous is based off of. For example Marinette’s miraculous is ladybug earrings so the kwami would look like a ladybug n’ Adrien’s is a black cat ring so the kwami would look like a black cat. The ladybug n’ cat kwami are named Tikki n’ Plagg respectively n’ not only are they meant to be little pals for the holder of the miraculous but also the source of power to said miraculous, because by wearing the miraculous n’ saying a key line (for example Tikki spots on will activate the ladybug miraculous) the kwami will be sucked inside the miraculous transforming the wearer into a costume superhero w/ special abilities, which results in both our young adolescent protagonist transforming into Ladybug n’ Chat Noir Each. Now each kwami has a unique ability based on what they represent, for example Tikki is the kwami of creation so she gives the ability called “lucky charm” which creates literally any object, n’ Plagg is the kwami of destruction so he gives the ability “cataclysm” which can destroy anything the wearer touches.

Anyway Marinette ends up knowing n’ befriending master fu, n’ finds out he has this big box called the Miracle Box which is used to contain miraculouses, w/ two of them being missing, the butterfly n’ peacock miraculous. Now the peacock miraculous wouldn’t be used later on in the show but the butterfly miraculous is what’s being used by the big baddie himself Hawkmoth. The butterfly miraculous is a broach that has the kwami Nooroo who’s the kwami of transmission which allows Hawkmoth to sense strong emotions, picks out a butterfly from his secret hideout, corrupts it (or akumatize it as the show puts it) send it out, finds the person w/ said strong emotion n’ then possesses the object that the person was holding or wearing n’ then evilizes them...no I’m serious that’s literally what Hawkmoth says just as the butterfly leaves the hideout. Anything after the butterfly possess said object the person has a short telepathic chat w/ Hawky here saying that they’ll give the person powers if they retrieve Ladybug n’ Chat’s miraculous’s the reason being is that when combined together both miraculous will allow the wearer to grant a wish, but w/ a consequence...of course there gonna- of course there’s gonna be a consequence! What else is new! Now it’s later been revealed that Hawkmoth is Gabriel Agreste (Adriens dad) n’ that he want the miraculouses so that he can wish his wife back from the dead/a comatose state. Oh right n’ before I forget uh, Ladybug n’ Chat don’t know their secret identities. Yup they both got their miraculous at separate locations ( that being their respective houses obviously) n’ they don’t know each others identity. As well as the fact that Marinette has a crush on Adrien n’ Adrien has a crush on ladybug, creating this love square within the fandom. But yeah that’s basically the gist of the show.

Let’s start off w/ the main characters Ladybug n’ Chat Noir, first we’ll start w/ Ladybug, which btw can I just say that she had the blandest outfit in the series...seriously it’s just a red spandex suit w/ red spots. Anyway, the show is known for having some inspiration from magical girl anime, I mean the show has at least 2 transformations sequences within each episode n’ it was originally going to be a 2d anime style show...but they later change it to 3D because the of some issues w/ ladybug’s spots. So I’ve decided to give ladybug a skirt that are shape like ladybug wings as well as adding a white translucent fabric underneath to look like the inner wings of an actual ladybug, as well as including less spots n’ making the spots bigger n’ smaller in certain areas. I also added a headshot of her civilian form to really emphasize the difference between the two, since I’m the original their basically the same except in clothes. You’ll notice that Marinette has black hair w/ short pigtails n’ brown eyes while ladybug has dark blue hair w/ long pigtails n’ light blue eyes, this is because I’ve decided when the wearer transforms their eyes will change to the eye color of their kwami, like Chat Noir has cat eyes in the original. As well as the fact that Marinette has been confirmed to be a mix since her mom is Chinese while her father is French so I wanted to capture that in her civilian form. Also her weapon is still her magic yo-yo, I just happened to update it to also be a belt clip that she can just take out n’ clip it back in whenever she needed to.
