Description
A companion piece to Moon Joy, this is Sun Sorrow. The commission was simply "Celestia looking regal" but as I drew it (long before Season 4 aired) I kept thinking about where she would be, and the ruins of her old castle "at sunset" were my original idea. Naturally, a few weeks later when the episode aired, it switched immediately to Celestia just before she makes that horrible choice to banish her sister to the moon.
A whole new set of skills used in this one - I finally captured a style for background painting that I've always liked but was never quite able to emulate before, and lots of masking and overlay layering.
