Prayer From Crystal Tokyo by Delight046 Prayer From Crystal Tokyo by Delight046
Done with 95% Watercolor, 3% Acrylic, and 2%colored pencil

Chibiusa is finally done! Yaaaay! This project is nearing completion! :D I actually have a one (to three?) more drawings to do for this project and then it's DONE. I hope.... lol.

I actually had a crazy time trying to come up with a title for this picture. I kept looking up words like Peace, Hope, Wish, Dawn, Future, etc on Thesaurus.com (didnt want to use the words I listed), and finally I found the word Prayer. I know there are some people who are not motivated by religion, but to me a wish is a type of prayer for a good outcome (in this case, for future Tokyo to happen). :)

On terms of watercolor, I went a little crazy on the sky. So much of the time I'm so controlled and detailed, that I wanted to play around with watercolor effects for shitz and giggles.  I may do more areas of watercolor doing it's thing without me telling it to. :) The weakest part of this drawing is the background to the right side of Chibiusa (Yup I just pointed it out and It'll stick out like a sore thumb). XD I didnt add enough green over there to match the left side of the drawing. :/  BAAAAAAH Cityscapes.

Aside from Crystal Tokyo happening, I bet she's praying for Helios to be her prince. :D

oooo Shiny! although I'm always conflicted about the placement of the round shoulder thingi's with the moon princesses' dresses. I prefer the manga version with them off the shoulders (Manga Coloring - Princess Serenity by Kiara-Genesis   ) rather than the anime version on the shoulders (media.tumblr.com/cfc27356cdf04… )

The "round shoulder thingi's" are armbands--they are not attached to the dress--but most people mistakenly believe that they are sleeves at first glance.  I don't know if they are some kind of Ivory or stone perhaps...

Maybe embroidered fabric? I was under the impression that the arm bands are made from the same material as whatever the round circles on her bodice are made from. Something durable, light in weight, and comfortable.

I've tried cosplaying with armbands before (for a hatchune miku costume) and it's HARD to keep armbands (sleeves) on. D:

Naoko was probably more concerned about costume design rather than trying to actually create it in real life costume. XD Let the fans attempt making the design a reality, and hopefully succeed.

Apparently, she based Princess Serenity's dress off of a real-life weding dress:  40.media.tumblr.com/dbe886d39e… & silvermoon424.tumblr.com/tagge…

She looks so sweet and young. I like the style, it reminds me of the water color shots they sometimes used in the show.  Inori is the japanese word for prayer and this looks like it fits the word to a T.

For a while I was dithering about calling it Kibou from Crystal Tokyo (because Kibou in Japanese means Hope), but I thought since I didnt do that with the rest of the pictures in the series I'm working on, that I would stick with English words. ^^;;

Actually I was using www.soul-hunter.com/sailormoon… as my reference for this picture. ;D

Princess Serenity also does the same pose in this picture: www.soul-hunter.com/sailormoon…

Btw, I'm sorry that I havent been responding to your comments the past couple of days. I've been SUPER busy/worn out. D:

It's just that her pigtails look thicker nearer her head than at the ends, like they do in the 4th Arc Anime episode, instead of the way they did in the Manga.

And I understand about the lack of oppotunities to correspondence, I've been down with a stuffed-up head all of Last week, and a chesty cough and sniffles all of This week.  I've either been kept asleep by cold & flu medicine, or crashing from lack of sleep.  :(

Ahhh, I get what you mean. Yeah I did do the pigtails thicker near her head than at the ends (like in the anime), but thats because I have longer hair and it's thicker closer to my scalp, then towards the ends. XD Plus I think it gives it more of a Small Lady Serenity look rather than looking like a sailor moon copy cat. :/

Awh! I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling under the weather. D: As much as it sounds like a nagging mother... "Be sure to get plenty of water!" Cuz it helps your body clean out all the junky stuff/re-hydrates you. :) Not to mention, get plenty of sleep (I'm guilty of getting too little sleep as well). :/
I hope you get better soon and feel super energetic! :3

I know the drill.  I've been getting colds & flu's throughout my life.  I've got allergic rhinitis (an inflamation of the airways/sinus'/respiratory system.  It also means regular hayfever.  (sob sob).  But I'm usually prepared for it, but this week, I had less cough syrup than anticipated, having not anticipated getting coughs and sniffles Twice In Two Weeks.

D: I'm sorry to hear that! Having that type of allergy/inflammation of airways/sinus/Respiratory system does not sound good at all. I hope once winter sets in that your symptoms will lessen considerably. :3

Said-inflammation of airways/sinus/Respiratory systemmeand that I catch colds, flu's, coughs and what-not very easily, and Winter will not make much of a difference; once I had a  stuffed-up head three New-Years in a row.

Thanks!

Also dont sell yourself short on your Crystal Tokyo! (yes I did sneak a peek into your gallery to see which picture you were talking about)
You definitely got the crystal aspect down, but it looks like you were going from memory rather than using a reference (less foundation crystals?). Plus, considering that the picture is at night and the lighting is usually pretty dim, it looks fine as is (doesnt need rainbows). If I was an art teacher, I'd give you an A for.... AMAZING~ :D *adds to faves*

For my crystal tokyo, I used a reference to go from because I can't remember angles to save my life. XD Plus, Dawn and Dusk tend to create really weird colorful colors, so it made sense to use multiple colors to stick with the colorscheme. :) I used these two images for reference (at the end of the Nemesis Arc):
t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:AN…
img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20…

Considering you were doing a fairly muted crystal tokyo, this may have helped for a reference: i778.photobucket.com/albums/yy… Although if you wanted to do a livelier crystal tokyo, this probably would have helped (at night time): media.tumblr.com/767712e0cb889…

Also! If you ever decide to draw crystal tokyo (or any other SM stuff) again, you should check out :iconmoon-shadow-1985:'s sailor moon gallery. She's done an amazing job of collecting reference material from the sailor moon manga and anime, and is SUPER nice-helpful if you need help finding something BSSM related. :3

Thanks a bunch! I actually was trying to reference the manga version of Crystal Tokyo the most, but it was never shown as much or had a solid design like it did in the anime. That gave me the freedom to play around a bit at least, but your colors were so awesome and much closer to what I imagined it looking like.

I definitely plan to draw tons and tons of SM fanart so I'm definitely giving your moon-shadow a watch! Meow :3
