This is a commission for atelierv   Created with Photoshop CS2, Paint Tool Sai, and Wacom Intuos3 tablet.

The commission details I was given was to draw a pinup of any character of my choosing. Plan A got scrapped due to a corrupted psd file (dont ask), so I opted for Plan B, a Manga/Sailor Moon Crystal Version of Princess Serenity.

Awhile back I saw some images online of backlit dresses (light behind the person or at the right angle) that reveal the figure underneath. So I decided to give it a try, but make a moonlit version. Back-lighting kinda drove me crazy for a number of hours, but eventually I got it right. Water is still kinda meh, but I wanted it transparent enough to see some of her dress yet. Also butts are hard to draw. D:

This was an artist judgment call, but I did not add the "butt bow". Since this was a commission especially for pinup art, I felt the bow would have taken more away from the figure in the image.

Anyway, I hope y'all like it. :)

I'm not going to lie, I am in no way a fan of SMC. :(

Though, it is always nice to see Princess Serenity's cute bum.

Reminds me of something I read about in from the "Bishōjo Senshi Sailor Moon" 1st Arc Artbook, & the "Bishōjo Senshi Sailor Moon" Materials Collection Artbook:
* ai-no-senshi.net/gallery/artbo… & ai-no-senshi.net/media/image-g…
* gallery.missdream.org/albums/s… & missdream.org/sailor-moon-scan…
* mangastyle.net/images/material… & mangastyle.net/sailormoon-mate…
&
* mangastyle.net/images/artbook1… & mangastyle.net/sailormoon-artb… & mangastyle.net/

Liner Notes:
"Title page of the October 1992 Nakayoshi -- Media: Color ink, tone -- Paper: Canson":

~~“This is a work I love, which I drew using only my favourite colours. I really wanted to draw this princess pose. This is the sacred fountain of the moon sanctuary. The blue thing floating in the distance is Earth. This is the first image I got of Princess Serenity and the castle ruins on the moon.”~~

Yeah I kinda had in mind this chapter page from the first arc of sailor moon (I think thats what you were getting at): mangastyle.net/images/artbook1…

However I wanted it at a different angle. ^^;;

What do you have planned next?  A family portrait?  Three generations of the Lunar Matriarchy?

Sailor moon wise? Nothing at the moment. I tend to draw whatever comes to mind when it's sailor moon...lol. Right now I'm trying to get some commissions done before April 8th, and redraw 2 months worth of art lost, due to a malfunctioning usb drive. Blarg....

At least most of the art lost was inking and not full colors. Inking takes me maybe an hour and coloring takes waaay longer.

Aaaah! This turned out so lovely! I love how you can see through the fabric due to it being wet and in the light. The water looks great and the sky looks fantastic!
