This one I really wanted to do after Apo finished rendering the fractal for Spread the Sanity. So...

I intend this as a devious birthday kind of fractal. It's got the yellow and green, which are important colors around here.

I'm not going to put a long wordy description on this one. Let's just, as one well-put DD description today said, "not think about the alien or the ninja for a bit," and focus on just the community. DeviantART. Let's focus on what it means to be a deviant, celebrating five years of deviousness.

Let's remember that while many of us have been here less than a year, there are some who've been here from day one.:heart: Take the time to remember that this community has a rich online history, and will continue to do so...as long as we let it.

Fractal done in Apophysis 2.02h, and heavily layer-tweaked and filter-altered in Photoshop 7.0. I even did some brush work here and there to fix up stripey gradients left behind by the umpteenth layer merge. :D Text, border, and frame also done in Photoshop. Enjoy.

It looks like a space-oid mouth emerging from timeless goo! And I mean that in a good way!

:lmao: That's a fun way to see it. But hey if you mean it in a good way, that's the way I'll take it. :D

Lime green! Yay! Until recently one of my favourite clothing colours! But seriously, this is a cool manip of a nice rotational flame. Definitely deviant! Definitely spirited!

You have to see the zoom to see the incredible detail!

This is a very good fractal. Of course, I know almost nothing about fractals, but from what i do know, this one is very good.

Somehow, i picture things with the word deviant in their name to be more blue, but when i consider this philosophically, it might just be an extension of the artists personal views and preferences. For example, my favorite color is blue.

There is a problem, however. The entire left side of the fractal acts almost like a void, a black hole that sucks the motion, the fluidity, and the very life out of the art, making it seem lifeless and flat. It lacks the... intensity and vibrant life that have endeared your other fractals to me. Still, it's much better than anything that i could do.

Oh, and i've noticed that people are STILL having difficulty giving you advanced critiques, even though you encourage it.

TME

Yeah, that's the downside of fractals. Guess my next rant will soon come....:D

And I do agree--it's missing something. And something in it either pulls me to the left, or to the hard right, and makes me kinda skip over it. But that's in hindsight after staring at it for a week on my main page. :XD:

Well, it's one fractal. I'll just keep on trying. I appreciate your insight, and your vivid description here will make me rethink cropping or otherwise altering a fractal with this kind of shape without looking at the left side more. Because I was looking more at the right-hand side, and just didn't see anything in the left.

Yeah, because I wanted to soften the detailing. Naturally, the thumbnail lost some of that because of its size.

Thank you.

My eyes thinks this is too blurry but if you step back and look at it, it really does work. Its smooth in the right places and intricate in others to give it character. The fractal is well placed on the canvas, the actual movement is rather interesting as well. Nice job on this one.

The green and yellow made me think of the BP logo

:D Thanks for your insight. Yeah, from the thumbnail it looks too blurry. I really wanted to keep some of the details together on this, but at the same time, I refuse to let another jaggy ruin my art. :D

BP, hahaha. :D
