Stop Mocking My Haircut by DeepChrome Stop Mocking My Haircut by DeepChrome
This is what happens when my brain is jacked up on Dark Chocolate Pieces and Reese's Pieces at 1:30 in the morning, and also jacked on a GLaDOS obsession.

I guess I might as well call it Number Two in the "Conversations with GLaDOS" series at this rate.

Anyways, the story behind this is that I got a haircut because I was sick of my ponytail, and I'd had the short-in-back-long-in-front style before, and it looked good on me. So then I go to edit a Conversations with GLaDOS piece I hadn't posted to change my character's haircut to match mine...and discovered that my cartoonization now looks entirely too much like a humanized GLaDOS. It doesn't help that I wear glasses, am a caffiene addict, or that I'm a nerd, either. :| Times like this when I'm glad prefer coloring my hair red instead of blonde, eh?

Then I suddenly had the idea that GLaDOS would find the entire thing too funny to resist tormenting me with, so here comes this second piece. And how meta is her posting some poor human made up to look like a personifcation of her to DeviantArt? :D

I. Just. Could. Not. Resist.

This probably won't any make sense to me when I check back on the deviation tomorrow evening. :lmao:

GLaDOS and Portal are copyright to Valve.

GLaDOS has a DeviantArt account? What's her username? I'm SO watching her!

If she had one, do you think any of us would know the name, let alone that it was her???

Really.

Now I want to do a sequel. :lmao: Just to see how my throwing the lemon plays out.

She'd probably just catch it, disarm it, and ridicule me for lousy aim and horribly slow timing, then would insist the hairspray has no neurotoxins whatsoever, and then would probably have put sedatives in the hairspray instead. Just for laughs. :D All so she could get her picture.

Epic Win. I'm sorry that GLaDOS is tormenting you. Hopefully the lemon will help. XD

Haha, thanks. :D

The lemons came up originally as part of a piece that hinted on how she'd react to the cutesey 14-year-old girl personifications of her, because well...she ran out of neurotoxin in that one. :lmao:

I might post it, I'm just concerned it might be too trollish, and I know on DA it's stupidly easy for people to get butt-hurt. So.

Anyways, the lemon in this one came out as a "if GLaDOS were real, how would you keep her in line?" idea. :D Seriously, she wouldn't like combustible lemons for two reasons: damaged vital testing apparatus, and the reference to Cave Johnson would just skeeve out the Caroline in her. :D

I'm half tempted to take one of those plastic lemon toys, and stick a button panel on it. I know the people I work with would get a kick out of it, as we're all Portal fans. XD (We work in the warehouse of a retail electronic store, and I think the salespeople believe we're all insane.)

The salespeople believe you're all insane?

That's totally perfect for this kind of setup.

Hmm, plastic lemon toys...you know those little lemon juice containers shaped like lemons? That'd be another way to make the thing. Generally the panel I imagined on mine (great, now I'm gonna have to draw these things) is basically an LED that's dead for "off" mode, green for "ready/on" mode, yellow for "arming," and red for "armed." :D Deluxe version would have the little voice going "ready," "arming," and "armed" along with "Combusting in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1..." based off some other combustible lemon concept somewhere. (There's a deviation around here someplace with one going "Combusting in 3, 2, 1" next to PotaDOS.)

It makes perfect sense! And I love this, there are too little combustible lemon jokes out there! Cave Johnson eat your heart out.

Hehehe, hey I love the idea of lemons-as-grenades. It's just so off-the-wall and fun. Thank you.

I imagine when the word "armed" comes from the lemon it's in a turret voice.

Was thinking more a male robotic voice, like your classic "robotic bomb" sort of voice. Or you could use Cave Johnson's. Hahahaha.

Sometimes I don't understand why everybody makes all these humanoid versions, there's so much more chance for comedy and/or otherwise general parody with the original GLaDOS. [link] You can't tell me that that isn't the best thing ever.

I'll probably get into that. I've got one or two doodles lying around that might give me ideas. :D

There's some stuff obviously you could only try with the robot, and vice-versa with the humanizations. ;)

And I've some free time tomorrow, so I think I might try something.

And agreed on that deviation. The trick I think, is writing her lines, because you don't have as much human expressions or facial cues to work off of. I'm not saying the robot's impossible, it's just you'd have to work at expressiveness differently. (See why Valve's animators are such freakin' geniuses? :D)

Oh, speaking of parody done with the original robot form, I found this really, really good fan-vid for Want You Gone. One of the things they did really, really well was a singing, animated GLaDOS in a spotlight. :D [link]
