Somebody said Celery by DeepChrome Somebody said Celery by DeepChrome
Yup.

To those of you who know the Honor Harrington book series by David Weber, I've been bit by the impeller-driven bug. I'm up to Flag in Exile (Book 5), and await an order on Honor Among Enemies (book 6)... Seriously, if you're into PC games like Homeworld, Hegemonia: Legions of Iron, Masters of Orion, and spaceships with LOTS and LOTS of guns and missiles, you will love the Honorverse books. They're a must read for any SF or military SF fan. :D

Well, this friend of mine got into Honorverse as well (he's reading the first book in e-book format), and well...he seems to like treecats a little too much, and started roleplaying as one in a chatroom. He kept forgetting the l's in "bleek" until we finally told him, but it was inevitable.

I've turned him into a treecat. One who gets rather goofy upon first sight of celery...

I used a cover art picture of Honor's treecat Nimitz in one of the Worlds of Honor books as a reference for drawing and coloring this one, but it was entirely freehand. :) Drawn on Aiptek digital tablet in Adobe Photoshop 7.0. I didn't spend a whole lot of time on this. Rather I was going for the comedic effect of enlarged eyes, and a goofy expression.

As you can guess, this won't be the last piece of Honorverse fanart out of me by a long shot.

Honorverse, and everything and everyone in it, including the ships, is copyright David Weber and Baen Books. :)

At first I thought it was Climbs Quickly, then I read the description. Great work!

Keep hearing the "Evil Kitty song" at the background when looking at THIS cat. Nice drawing, though.

Great! Got to love the 'cats. They are the best. I believe or not started with Honor Along Enemies (Poor Wayfarer...) before reading some of the other books. Still haven't read Basilisk Station yet, though I do have the CD with the entire series in .DOC format. I too try to recommend the Honorbooks to my friends. I also must get these new reference books.

Anyways didn't know you had an DA account 'Chrome. Hopefully you have some stuff for the Legacy Series.

You've got the neurotic, yet gleeful, look down pat. Unfortunately, the only book related to the Honor Harrington series I read was Crown of Slaves which had but minimal references to Treecats.

Try reading On Basilisk Station, and then Honor of the Queen. Both are the first two books of the Honor Harrington series, and far as I can tell, a bit easier to get into than the rest of the series. Everything gradually builds up from Basilisk, through Queen, and then onwards.

But those two definitely mention the 'cats more. :)

Thanks. Glad you liked it. Heh, David Drake, eh? Now I'll have to go read his books too.

But hey if you ever do remember meeting Mr. Weber, you'll have to tell me about it. :plotting:

I was hoping some people had read those books around here. :D

I'll bet lots of people have.

It was Drake, I remember now. xD And Eric Flint; they co-write a lot, I think.

Mainly I read them because my brother, who constantly reads (and writes) military skiffy, left 'em around the house. And I automatically read everything I get my hands on. xD;; In this case, a good thing. I shall have to go find more~

Heh. Okay.

I think they've written in some of the Honorverse anthologies, because those names do seem familiar.

Hmm, that's a similar syndrome to what I have, and it's why I re-read stuff. Sometimes I'll just stop by, pick up a book, BAM, sucked right into it. :O_o:

Yep.

Whee, I went to the bookstore and picked up a couple Honorverse books; I had read one, but I think I'd confused them with something else... in any case, they are GOOD FUN. Although Honor reminds me of Chardee, which means I need to change Chardee. xD
