SPIRODREAM by DeepChrome SPIRODREAM by DeepChrome
Been a while since I did a fractal.

Title is from this looking very much like the next-generation Spirograph job. Considering I grew up loving Spirograph, it's no wonder I tend to be a sucker for Apo's rotationals. :XD:

Apo 2.05-something or other. ;P

Some levels and color touch-up, and background as well as title and border done in PS 7.0.

Thanks. :D

BTW....rotational setting, put the order between 15-20, and try playing with different variations. The variations behave differently in rotational. You'll find variations you like to play with more than others as you go along. The higher the order, the smoother your curves go. I've found the eyefish/spherical work really well on the order-1000 rotationals just for getting very smooth curves and shapes.

thanks for the info, i might try something like this soon. did u start from scratch by the way? or did u manipulate some random batch flame?

Basically manipped a random batch one. I don't like dumping something directly from random batch to render, so it typically has to look nothing like a random before I'm done.

I have sometimes built from scratch, though. I'll do more of that sometimes, especially when randoms disgust the hell out of me, and refuse to bend to my wishes. Hehehe.

Part of it is triangles, the other part is a 1000 level quality render on 3200xwhatever lengthwise resolution. Then I size down to the 1200 across max. Something I picked up from Aeries involving anti-aliasing. Sometimes you can kill a lot of potential jaggies by just rendering really big, then sizing down in Photoshop or whatever afterwards.

You know those disks they sell in novelty shops with the fake lightning flickering across it in tune to music? This really reminds me of those. XD

Yeah. I have two of those. One's broken (I think), and the other is a little too small which causes it to get very angular lightning.

Beautiful!

I was a kid in the 80s who LOVED Spirograph. My little sister and I used to play with them all the time!

Hehehe, so you do remember it like I did. Cool. :) I think in a way Apophysis IS advanced Spirograph when you set it to rotational. :D

Thanks for the comment.
