Resistance is Futile by DeepChrome Resistance is Futile by DeepChrome
That classic Borg phrase...what else could I use as a title for a piece like this? :giggle:

I've puttered with 2 other backgrounds to the Borg in this, and neither worked quite as well as this smoldering wreckage scene. This pic's languished in my puter for probably 2 weeks now. It took 2 days to do the Borg drone, and several days of staring at it, puttering with backgrounds, staring at it some more, before I finally settled on this look here.

This is basically what I think some of the Borg's heavier-duty tactical drones would look like. The ones they'd send against races they've been trying to assimilate for centuries, to no avail. That's a shouldermounted cannon on his left shoulder, and a targeting system on his right. ;) Let your imaginations work on what kind of things he could do. :D

Painted with Aiptek digital tablet and pen on Adobe Photoshop 7.0.

Star Trek and the Borg are copyright Paramount Studios. I'm just adding to their glory. :giggle:

Wow... Borg drones are so hard to draw right, let alone paint... and you certainly did this right. Well done!

Thanks, Gabe. :D  I'm glad you thought it was so cool. (I had fun doing it, although armor texture and detailing isn't my strong point.)

Thank you. I'm amazed at the response this one's getting. I'll have to post some of my other Borg art when it's done. (I have one that's 90% done, and needs some tweaks. There's another that's more humorous, that's also needing some finishup.)

Only if you let yourself.

I can honestly say I've had one or two dreams with Borg chasing after me, but I never get assimilated. :giggle: Hell one time I had a dream that there was a Cube in orbit, and the military tried to nuke it. No joy, thing just stayed put like one of those ships from Independence Day. I felt we were screwed THEN. But those dreams always came out with a "Oh, wow, cool" vibe that kinda kept me from being scared.

I'm sure that changes the day I wake up from a dream that I got assimilated and taken apart on an assimilation table. :O_o:

Weirdest part is I've had two surgeries on one eye where they kept me awake once it was numbed. Suffice to say I can almost guess how it feels to get an eyeball replaced by a piece of hardware. Second time, pretty much a quarter of my head was so numb it felt like I had a block stuck on the side of my face. :O_o: I kept poking it to make sure I still HAD part of my head there. And I wasn't in the best of moods afterwards, so if anybody took pictures of me then, my face would've looked like a Borg's--total deadpan.

Suffice to say I prefer to avoid operating rooms unless a major benefit is going to be had from going in there.

WHOA O.O!!! Just out of curiousity, how did it really fell when they were operating on your eye? did it hurt during operation? did it hurt afterwards? man, i bet that felt really WEIRD @,@! *is curious now*

The first surgery they gave me enough local anesthetic (the stuff that numbs you) that I didn't feel a thing. Hurt for a while afterwards, especially when I moved it.

Second time, somebody must've underdosed on something cuz I felt waaaaay too much during the surgery. Strange cause half of the left side on my head was numb??!! It hurt a good deal worse afterwards as well, but I recovered.

The eye got blurry for a while immediately after surgery--first time it generally recovered to where I saw faint halos around big streetlamps at night. Second time I'm *still* waiting on the cornea to de-blur itself. :| Which it is, something I'd almost given up on for a year....

I hope that helps. :)
