OPTICAL by DeepChrome OPTICAL by DeepChrome
Okay, this one was spawned out of much tinkering, clearing, tinkering, clearing, until I finally had a fractal I liked enough to render. I consider this the sequel to Temple of the Globe. However, it doesn't look like a temple ANYTHING, so the name's different despite the "continuation" of that style of 3D Apo work.

It did look like some kind of psychotic 3D op-art piece buried in the darkest corners of some 8-bit video gamer's dreamscape, so Optical stuck as a name.

3D Apophysis, 18 hour render at about 50,000 quality (still, the goddamn grain hasn't entirely left, so I need to probably bump that up to 70,000 :| ). There's absolutely no touchup in Photoshop besides the text, frame, and border. Unlike my ROSE piece, where I managed to get in and fix some of the grain with the blur tool, the grain was so minimal and the fractal so complex, I didn't feel like constantly screwing up all the details mucking about with either the blur tool or the smart blur filter.

If you do actually see it, congratulations. You've an eye for detail. If you don't, don't strain yourself trying to find it. I'm just a bit of a perfectionist. ;p

Thanks. Generally if you're using Apo, just keep using bubble - rectangle combinations. Play with the distance of the rectangles, the intensity of the variation, etc. And then keep layering one transform on top of the other. Should make for a neat effect. ;)

Hi. Cool pic. Can I use it for a web site project (it's my final) for my CIS 212: Intro to Web Development class? Credit will be Given.

there's a mysterious kinda action brewing inside the image :P it kinda looks like that to me :D like something about to burst open or pulling the center pieces in half. its awesome!

Thank you. I meant for it to be doing a couple of things, to be a very "active" fractal, so I'm not surprised at people thinking of movement or motion when looking at it. :) What is surprising is what people come up with.

That is really cool! :-)

It looks like some kind of invisible force is pushing the "bubble" upwards. Perhaps some giant slowmoving creature. :-)

Great job in any case. Thanks for sharing :-)

Thank you. :D

I'll probably wind up making more of these as bubble/rectangles pieces fascinate me in Apo3D. :)

Might make one tonight. I've an idea involving layers of rectangulary bubbles, but we'll see. :D
