Kryptonian Landscape v2 by DeepChrome Kryptonian Landscape v2 by DeepChrome
Thanks to some very cool overpaints and critique from ~AriochIV I've decided to upgrade and tweak this thing a bit.

Here we go, and I really like how the sky and sun turned out now. It feels more realistic, and yet more cool.

However, I'll let the viewership decide the final verdict. :D

Ohh woooow. This is absolutely stunning. This is digital? It looks like you used watercolors, and that effect gives it a rather dreamy look that lends to this particular landscape wonderfully. Did you honestly just like, take a blank canvas and just /do/ this? You must give me tips sometime, man. I would love to learn to do back rounds like this. I wish I had some constructive criticism to give you, but goodness, I just look at this and--God, I don't even know how you would begin to improve anything. It's simply too beautiful.

Wow, thank you. :)

Yeah it was built from scratch - and way too many layers of tweaking. And then I got some AMAZING crit from a much more skilled artist who's a sort of friend of mine, and his crit helped me take it to the level you're seeing now. So I can take the credit for doing the work, but not quite all of the thinking part. :p

Basically you just start by blocking in shapes with solid colors, and then you just keep building on it, and building on it until you're either happy with what you go or you've hit all the crit points others bring up, I guess. I think everybody's painting techniques are different. I do both painting and lineart-style, I just happen to be in a lineart style phase right now.

Anyways, my main piece of advice with this kind of thing is don't be afraid to experiment, and try different stuff till it looks right to you. :) Your shading and texturing on that Karkat piece tells me you can do this kind of thing, if you're patient enough.

(I think sometimes the main reason I do lineart style is that I'm impatient. :P)

wow i have the 2 side by side, and you definitely improved it in the revision. the reflection of the sun off the snow is much clearer and makes more sense now that the sun was "moved" further into space. :)

Thank you. I appreciate your taking the time to really look at the differences, and letting me know what you think. :)
