Halloween Nebula 2006 by DeepChrome Halloween Nebula 2006 by DeepChrome
As became my tradition on DA, I post a fall-colored nebula with planets each year in October. Tis the season! :D

Around 2 hours--I wasn't counting the time--in Photoshop 7.0 using tweaked methods based off of Greg Martin's spacescape and planet tutorials.

One planet is new, another is one from an older spacescape. (I save my planets separately so I can do this kind of thing.)

Enjoy.

I hope you don't mind if I use this for a picture. I'm not making any money or points off of it, it's just for a meme. I'll credit you.

No problem. Long as it's credited clearly, I'm good.

Very dense field of stars and lots of light. Must be near the center of the Galaxy. Nice work!

Thank you. I was thinking globular cluster. Those are very dense, very old, and tend towards being bright clusters of red and yellow stars near the end of their stellar lives. :)

Thank you. I really felt I had to do something to fit the fall mood--well past Halloween. This would work into the Thanksgiving season.

(This is why it's now also my desktop wallpaper. >_>;)

Isn't it wonderful how versatile the color orange is?

It is. I'm impressed...usually I don't care much for orange, but strangely it works quite well on planets and in spacescapes. >_>

Very nice. I especially like the effect created by the "points of light" behind the planets. It really lends to the overall color scheme. The planets are nice, although I would have guessed that instead of two planets, it would be a planet and its moon.

Glad to see that your in the Halloween spirit. I was going to try to take a series of photos for the event, but then didn't. I love letting down my fanbase. Anyways, this is a wonderful picture, very festive, and keep up the good work.

Happy Halloween.

Thank you. :)

Yeah I decided I needed to position the planets such that their dark side stands out against the sky without getting lost in it. Hence that current placement.

And yes it's a planet and a moon--just the moon is the "newer" one and the planet is from a prior picture I did, as I save my planets separately before pasting them into a scene. I think if I had to do it over again, I'd have done a totally new planet. Meh.

 Nice. Looks very autumn. Might also feel nice with a hint of green, or purple.

Yeah...hmm, green. :D

I may go for more multicolored stuff next time. :D Maybe that next nebula won't be just green? :giggle:
