H A N U K K A H by DeepChrome H A N U K K A H by DeepChrome
I'd put this in the holiday section, but since this is a fractal, and more an experiment at generating a certain type of fractal, so I've decided to put it in here.

Apophysis 2.02 with Photoshop postwork.

I'm not Jewish, but I'm not of any other religion either. However I do feel that Jewish people do get slighted during the Christmas season, having to put up with going into stores that are full of a Christian holiay's things, and very little of theirs. So this is my homage to them as an artist--so they have something they can enjoy here on dA amidst all the Christmasy stuff. :)

This is very nicely done, the fractured aspect of it is striking!

 That's cool. Too easy for people to get offended and every which way. Thank you.

My stepfather has some Jewish ancestry, and my mom's got some Jewish friends in DC, so we're not as gung-ho-Merry-Christmas as some people. However, the current PC-let's-just-say-Happy Holidays trend bothers me. It takes all kinds I guess.

Thanks again for commenting.

I love how I have no clue what Apo is XD.

Apo. Apophysis. Freeware fractal program...think the URL to download it from is [link] I THINK.

You can probably also google it for places to download it from.

It's fun, and you can get an infinite number of shapes. Takes some time to learn, but once you're started it can get interesting pretty quick.

Well just your luck, I'm Jewish lol. It certainly isn't the Hanukkah season (it was Rosh Hashunah yesterday, and Yom Kippur will be Thurday) but it certainly is a holiday type part of the year, even if we have to fast during Yom Kippur :S. Great job, and I've added it to my favourites :D. I think it would make an amazing greeting card aswell, it's hard to find a good Jewish type card in Ontario without going into Toronto...

 I make greeting cards on the computer for friends and family--it's just making the printer spit the thing out in the right places (which I've finally MOSTLY licked ) that tends to be the challenge.

I think once it gets closer to Hanukkah, maybe I'll see if I can get it into a greeting card contest or something. :) Should be a few of those going around by then. Probably make a new one too. :evillaugh: My experience with Apo's improved considerably since the time I made that.

I'm glad you liked it--it seems like Jewish people get the short end of the greeting card industry come holiday season. Probably why I made the fractal...:XD:

Sweet render. The thickness of each individual stroke is very high detailed. And the tails fading into the centre is very pleasing.

Thanks. :D I was originally going for a more polished look in the fractal, but this one just was sooo much more effective when I saw it, that I settled on this one.

Nice! A welcome deviation for the holiday season. You should ask if dA should use your pic as a giftcard?

pretty cool! as a non practicing jew i salute you!

fractals are neat, but rarely do anything to their potential, so good job.

Thanks. :D Glad to know you liked it from your perspective. I was hoping someone Jewish on dA would give their insights on this image. I know the Star of David tends to be THE symbol of Judaism, along with the menorah, but I felt it was something I could get Apophysis to do relatively easy. I wasn't sure if it'd be too stereotypical of Hanukkah cards or what.
