FRACTAL LIGHTS by DeepChrome FRACTAL LIGHTS by DeepChrome
Because this has both an Apophysis 2.03 fractal and a Terragen landscape in it, I couldn't justify sticking it in the galleries that use either aspect alone. Therefore, this is in Miscellaneous. I put the two renders together in Photoshop 7.0. Man that program's such a diplomat, helping make different pieces work together.

This is a continuation of my Fractal Scenery series. Well, scenery is what it is, so I figure that's the name of my series. :XD:

Fractal's a rotational with spherical and wave variations, 1000th order symmetry. Terragen landscape is one of those repeatedly-squished iceberg colored things I wanted to show that this is the Northern Lights in fractal form. I hadn't opened Terragen in AGES, but just knew I wasn't gonna paint the damn snowscape right in PS even before I tried. Besides, I wanted water in it, like in all the others. Of course, the fractal wasn't shown in Terragen, so I had to fool with the Flood plugin a bit to make it blend with the TG's water. Not sure if I accomplished that, but it's good enough on first glance... :paranoid:...I think.

To foreshadow the next piece...I briefly hit across a fractal that looked like a total eclipse, but wasn't what I wanted for the aurora borealis look. I think I'll revisit that one, and really push for it. At least that one won't need a whole lot of scenery for a change... :faint:

Thanks. :D Glad you liked it. Yeah, I think it turned out better than I thought it would. Took a while to make Apo cough up its Aurora Borealis fractal, but once I got that done, and figured out how to integrate the water reflections in Photoshop, I was ready.

I got a new one rendered last night, so we'll see it up presently.

This one won't need anything Terragen because it's another dark one, but it should look plenty nice. :D

+++++----> I really like how these fractals have a more organic and spontaneous nature as opposed to rigid symetry.

 Thanks. I like the aysmmetric rotational myself. More interesting. My avatar has one of those, and I like how they come out a little different than I expect, each time. :D

Yes, very interesting to see, not that the other system is not interesting, but it offers a new realm of expression...

Thanks. I really tried to get it looking like the Northern Lights, going with the more aqua/gold colors than the blues and purples. So they looked like the real thing.

 Thanks. Glad you liked it.

BTW, the Terragen version I have is free, so if you ever wanted to try an Apo/TG combo, it's fairly easy. (www.planetside.co.uk, unless they changed the address, hehe) There are some limitations--render sizes, plugins, certain capabilities--but overall it still works very well for what it's got.

You're welcome. I used to play around with Terragen a couple years ago, and made some Quicktime VR panoramas by stitching a series of renders together. They came out pretty well...but then I became hypnotized by something else and stopped using it. However the Tgen 2 screenshots I've seen are remarkable. Have you seen the short demo movie that was completely rendered in Tgen 2 where it starts out above an Earthlike planet and eventually goes down to the surface? Wild stuff! I've scoured the Interweb in search of a beta (or even alpha!), but can find no trace of it on Usenet, eMule, Limewire, mIRC or any of the warez sites! Damn, I want it!!!

Nooo, I haven't seen it, but I've heard of it. :O_o: I can't wait for them to put out the TG2 free version. I want it too. I sooo wants it. *Gollum*

Anyways, it looks like they keep kicking the release date back and back and back so I guess we're stuck waiting a while longer.

Thank you. Glad you liked it. :D Yeah, I haven't fooled with TG very much lately, but I had to put a snowscape in this one. I wasn't sure how that'd play out here, but apparently people like it. :)

I love the colors, and I love the mountain! The water's a little iffy, but I'll forgive you. :p Water's tough sometimes, yeah?

This has been a great series of fractals; I can see the development as the series progresses. ^^

 Thanks. Yeah, the fractal's reflection in the water...that was going to be iffy no matter what I did. :dead:

That's interesting that you can see that...but yeah, I've been growing more and more complex as the series goes on. The next one may backstep a little, but probably not in the area of the fractal. ;)
