ETERNAL SNOWFLAKE by DeepChrome ETERNAL SNOWFLAKE by DeepChrome
I was fooling with Apophysis with just Sinusoidal and Eyefish variations selected, no scripts, and this came out.

Postworked a little in Photoshop with color and lighting, as well as title and border.

Enjoy. Fractal was done in Apophysis 2.03a

I put "eternal" in the title because its tunnel effect makes this look like a snowflake stretched and looping to infinity. Nothing fancy.

This thing looks FROSTY :wow: very cool effect (haha haha ha... ok, enough puns), how long did this one take with tweaking?
It's a BIT over-blurred, but it looks good with it as well, and I'm not sure how much of that cold-frostiness it would retain if it were much sharper...

I agree with Bareck though, "Really flippin awesome." describes it perfectly.

Thanks. :D Glad you liked it.

Yeah, I try for "cool" fractals, stuff a little different from the norm. I tend to tweak in triangles a lot now. I'll run a script sometimes, or not, and then just spend time tweaking it the triangle editor till it looks good. Then I'll go nuts with gradients till I see one that worked.

In this case, I think the blue gradient was there to start with, and I just had to find one that handled its colors right. :)

very nice, although it looks a little concave to be a snowflake. The colors are very nice.

 Yeah, it's a bit odd for a snowflake, which was why I thought it'd make a nice stylized snowflake, rather than a direct representation. I think its more likely I saw the gradient rather than the shape this time.

Thanks, though.

Thanks. :D Glad you liked it. Yeah, it has a few other features than "snowflake" to it, but the color just stuck in my mind and said "snowflake," so that's how the title came to be.

One of these days, I dare you to make a full scene--landscape, weather, sky, etc--just with multiple fractals. XD

That was the idea. It came out underlit because of its gradient, so I thought I'd play it up a bit with Lighting Effects. Thanks! Glad you liked it.

Quite interesting, this one. Looks 3D-ish, kinda like some really small thingie seen with an electron microscope.
Only crit is that it's a bit blurry. I'd sharpen it a bit.

Hmm, probably came from the Gaussian Blur-Lighten combo. I have a tendency to use it to soften things up, and then discover I made the blur a touch too strong. Thanks for the reminder. :)

Thanks. I tried black, but wanted something a little different. So I went with the blue. Seems most "chilly blue" pieces go best with dark blue rather than black. :) Glad you liked it.
