BEJEWELED GLORY II by DeepChrome BEJEWELED GLORY II by DeepChrome
My first piece with *Zueuk's 3D Apophysis. :w00t: This was done with the 3DjulianZ variation if I recall correctly.

It took some tinkering and some advice from the kind folks at #Apophysis (especially ~rocknrollismyguitar ) for me to get the 3D spheres, but once I did, everything else started coming together. So I credit them with getting me this far. I tried altering some of my Grand Julians first, but got nowhere fast. So I decided to do a fresh one from scratch. This is the result.

Expect a few more 3D pieces from me. :D

Border and title in Photoshop 7.0. The fractal itself is straight from the render.

I think I'll make this a series, too. The title alone would fit quite a few Julians/Grand Julians. :aww:

PS. Surprisingly the Apo3D's renderer is stable. :O_o: I've had so many problems with prior versions' renderers I had just decided to see what this one's would do. So far, quite nice. Also, does anyone know if there's going to be a flam3 hack sometime to support the Z-axis in fractal renders from this version of Apo? I got the impression that rendering had to be in the Apophysis due to the z-axis aspect.

Thank you.

Once I get this renderer problem fixed, you'll be seeing more. (Yeah, just the usual renderer issues that surface with apo...freezing up at .04 seconds or somesuch, and not allowing me to close it. Zueuk suggested twiddling the registry to see if that'll work. I'll be trying that soon.)

Bubble .175, pre_blur between .02-.06. :D

Set that as the first transform like on any GJ, and then just use either of the 3DJulians for the rest. I wish I knew why those don't have any julian_dist in their variables, but meh. Maybe that'll come in the next 3D version.

wow. very cool. Is it hard to make the 'jewels' stand out from the main 'setting'?

Hmm, that's just a use of the perspective setting in the camera, where you can make things stick out with some more depth. :) Usually the spheres are already plenty round anyways, so they don't need much.

Thank you....yeah I already have it, it's just that I'm not so good with it, yet. I haven't had much success figuring out how the z-axis works yet. I've figured out all the pitch and yaw type controls, but the z-axis is proving difficult for me to comprehend. I'm hoping for a tutorial soon, on the new z-axis variables.

Thank you. I tinkered with the pitch and yaw until I got something that looked like a mix of angled perspective, and rounded spheres. It's fun thinking in 3 dimensions for a change.

nice for a start with the Apo 3D... love the depth of those spheres... I was trying to achieve the same effect with Apo but I'm having trouble locating pitch and yaw... (I'm still a complete noob to Apo)

great work :)
