The arthropod hunter that goes under the order of Araneae are found worldwide on every continent except for Antarctica. For the common man its known under a more simple name, the spider. This type of animal employ an amazing variety of different techniques to capture their prey. For example, they can seek their prey out on the ground, like the wolf spider, sneaking up on them. A trapdoor spider dig holes, cover them up with dirt doors hinged with spider silk, and then they lie in wait for any passing prey. Those that do are doomed. Some spiders hide, disguised in color and shape, inside flowers to catch feeding insects by surprise. The most common hunting technique that occurs however with the majority of species is to create a web. Anything that get stuck in the threads will be trapped there. Even for some humans this is a ‘beast’ that can instill fear, fright...and last but not least a great respect.
