Ubuntu Ambiance

A basic Chrome theme for Ubuntu 10.10 users. Works for all OS.

Download and unzip the .zip file. Drag the .crx file into the Chrome window.

There is a problem with the rendering of fonts in Chrome for Linux systems. To overcome this problem set both Serif and non-Serif fonts to 'Ubuntu 17' in 'Preferences' -> 'Under the Hood.'

To customize the text that appears below the thumbnails in the new-tab page: Find the 'preferences' file (hidden); close all Chrome windows; scroll down to the bottom of the file and alter the text; save the file and launch Chrome.

If Meerkat seems sluggish on your system, then you should upgrade the kernel. Follow these instructions: [link]

It worked for me, and the Meerkat is flying.

Sadly, Chrome is still acting weird and hogging memory. If you find a fix, I will appreciate it if you left me a note.
