"Where the Wild Roses Grow" by debNise

Inspired by the song "Where the Wild Roses Grow" by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

[HIM]
On the second day I brought her a flower
She was more beautiful than any woman I've seen
I said: "Do you know where the wild roses grow
So sweet and scarlet and free?"

[HER]
On the second day he came with a single red rose
He said: "Give me your loss and your sorrow"
I nodded my head, as I lay on the bed
"If I show you the roses, will you follow?"

[HER]
On the third day he took me to the river
He showed me the roses and we kissed
And the last thing I heard was a muttered word
As he knelt above me with a rock in his fist

[HIM]
On the last day I took her where the wild roses grow
She lay on the bank, the wind light as a thief
And I kissed her goodbye, said: "All beauty must die"
And I lent down and planted a rose between her teeth.

Hi my name is Tom..
First I would like to say that the painting is so vivacious. It is so vivid. Like..."The Wizard of Oz" from many years ago. The painting is heavenly .
I wonder, are those poppies in the landscape around her? If they are, I envision an opiated trip that the beautiful lady is languishing in. : ) Each flower petal is unique. I see that in your work. That's difficult but you do it easily. Her hair, facial features, creamy skin on her arms seems so real, I'm in love with her. The shadows created by the posture of her hands, head turning is perfect. Excellent.
I can imagine the smell of a giant windstorm blowing. The crow cawing as it leaves the area. I love the red mask she is wearing. Does it symbolize a dark nature? Not sure. Maybe it allows her to be amongst the poppies and not feel the effects. Smile. Either way she is haunting, blond hair, black dress, field of blood red flowers...storm clouds. Although I see the sun shining through. Maybe she is leaving for now but....I feel long she's telling me that she will be back. I love the pout.
In the water, is that a log? I'm not sure. But this is a beautiful piece of work. I guarantee that I would hang this in my home, maybe next to the grand piano. I adore this very much. Sincerely yours Thomas

Having read the lyrics of the song, I honestly think that this perfectly portrays its message. This picture is simply beautiful and does hold a lot of meaning behind it.

The girl, the subject of the picture, is beautiful. I love her dark dress, flawless fair skin, pale hair and the red mask. The red lipstick is a nice touch, and especially stands out with the rose so close to her lips. Her stance, with her back almost facing the viewer, is also impactful in a way.
Though, I must admit the way she's holding that rose is quite unnatural. It looks rather forced and awkward, but isn't a major flaw or anything. Just thought it's something to point out. She's beautiful either way.

Oh, and that crow flying in the picture. It's soaring quite low and close to the lake, so I was just wondering where its reflection is in the water. Not that it's essential or anything, it's just rather odd that the reflection isn't there.

The dark skies and endless fields of flowers somehow create a mixed feeling to the viewer. It's rather a depressing kind of emotion, of how beauty never lasts.

This is still breath-taking either way. I really like it, it's stunning. Great work!

The whole 'Murder Ballads' album is great. 'Where the wild roses grow' is one of the best songs on the album. The video is also great. 'Henry Lee' is my favorite, though. :)

The video could be better in my opinion, my the song is absolutely fabulous even though is about a schizophrenic murderer :P
