Delighted to find this! You've matched what they wear from the books--and their appearance--wonderfully. My husband reminds me of Miles and me of Ekaterin so I'm particularly fond of this (I want to make him a House Vorkosigan uniform like this for science fiction cons. I see we're also both FMA fans--both amazing epic stories with creators who can keep casts of dozens going and every character with a distinct personality.

Hello fellow Vorkosigan lover!  If you were in front if me I would hug the shit out of you because I get to talk to so few people about the awesomeness that is this series!
A Civil Campaign is one of my all time favorite books.  Getting the clothes right was the easy part.  Finding a proper reference picture to work from was the hard part.
I'm glad you like it :)
BTW, I also did one of Ivan and Tej if you are interested:

One of my favorite romances in fiction.

Nice depiction here.

IKR?! A Civil Campaign is one of my all time favorite books.  I think I've read it at least 15 times.
The dinner scene never gets old! Nuu
Or the letter! Love
Or the proposal! :happybounce: Clap
*sigh* I just love that book.

There're a lot of nice romances in and around that novel.  Gregor and Laisa (in "Memory"), as well as the rest of Team Koudelka finding mates.

I take it you read the account of Miles and Ekaterin's wedding in the story "Winterfair Gifts".  Bujold not only writes great adventure, but she also has a definite eye for romance.

Yeah those were great too.  And watching Ivan just spin around everyone just added to it.

Have you read Captain Vorpatril's Alliance?  Now that I finally got Miles and Ekaterin out of my system I think I may have to do Ivan and Tej.

Yes I am so gonna do Ivan and Tej!

(BTW, you have no idea how nice it is to talk to someone about this.  NONE of my friends have read this series.  I've been trying to get my roommate into it but she's in the middle of re-listening to the Dresden Files; which I can't blame her for because that too is an awesome series too but... Goddangit! She needs to read the Vorkosigan Saga!)

Yes, I've read Captain Vorpatril's Alliance.  I was secretly hoping that, once Miles was safely married, Bujold would allow someone to finally lasso Ivan (now there was a boy who needed settling down).

If you're going to do Ivan and Tej then I'm definitely adding you to my watch list.

And yes, I've enjoyed Bujold's "Vorkosigan" series so much (just finished re-reading both "Shards of Honor" and "Barrayar" in fact).  All those books have been fantastic, and as much as Bujold likes to branch out, I wouldn't mind her somehow returning to that milieu.

The funny thing about Vorpatril's Alliance, as I was reading it, I kept saying to myself "See! I knew Ivan wasn't stupid.  He just doesn't need to bend the universe to his will, like his cousin."

And he also damn well knows the reward for a job well done is another job.

I really like Tej too.  She wasn't the kind of person I thought Ivan was gonna settle down with but when I got done with the book I loved her.

I think you are gonna like the pic I am doing of them.  I should be done with it in a couple days (if I don't light my computer on fire in a fit of rage.  IDK what it is but Ivan's face is giving me problems.)

Thank you very much for watch.  I appreciate it.

And yes, I do like Bujold's other stuff I can't get enough Miles either.  I actually used to not like sci-fi books.  I never really enjoyed reading them... and then I got this series.  I read everything from Cordelia's Honor up to Diplomatic Immunity in 2 weeks.  Now I find myself reading more and more military sci-fi.

I've been spoiled :)

Obviously (at least to me) Ivan went into the events of "Captain Vorpatril's Alliance" not expecting to fall in love.  Or doubtless he might have expected his usual round of dalliances, but not meeting "THE Woman".  And if he ever considered thoughts of marriage, I suspect Tej wasn't the face he was imagining.  Which, of course, is how love usually goes.

I'd would've really liked to have seen Alys' initial reaction to Tej.

As regards of an example of how Ivan finishes a "job well done", I offer some dialogue between Anthony Hopkins and Nathalie Delon in "When Eight Bells Toll":…

Looking forward to seeing the result of your work on Ivan and Tej.  And yeah, I imagine Ivan's a rather slippery bloke to capture.  A combination of the devilish, the worldly and the foolhardy.

(Been re-reading "Komarr" and "A Civil Campaign" because of our correspondence.)

My first thought when Ivan brought Tej home was that Alys was going burst a blood vessel because he married a Jacksonian who was granddaughter of a Cetagandian, of a huat lady no less.  But that's not how it played out.

I watched the clip.  Interesting.

I think Ivan was giving me problems because I was super tired when I was trying to do that.  (Never do concept art when you're brain-dead.)

I'm almost done.  I'm working on the background now.  Hopefully  can post it tonight or tomorrow.

I've been thinking about re-reading everything up to Memory.  But I have to finish Dune first.
