There was an art show at LTUE (Life, The Universe, and Everything) in Provo, Utah this year! It was fun to have my sculptures on display there. I had to cover up Queen of the Seas for it, but it still turned out great.
2014 Chesley Award for Best Dimensional Art
I am pleased to announce that I have won the Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artist's Chesley Award for Best Dimensional Art for 2014 for Queen of the Seas. What a year it has been for this sculpture. It was first accepted into Spectrum 20, then it was featured in the Society of Illustrator's Spectrum Exhibit in NYC as one of about seven sculptured picked from the last five years of Spectrum. And now it won a Chesley Award at Worldcon in London. What an honor.
Spectrum 2014 Exhibit in NYC
My wife and I went to NYC to attend the Spectrum Exhibit on September 12th. It was so fun to go to New York City for the first time. I'd only been to the airport previously. I had so much fun at the exhibit opening. I was able to meet some great artists like Michael Whelan, Greg Manchess, Boris Vallejo, and Julie Bell. I was also able to meet the man in charge of Spectrum, John Fleskes. It was so much fun. My Queen of the Seas bronze sculpture was front and center in the exhibit. What an honor.

Spectrum 2014 Exhibit
I am very pleased to announce that Queen of the Seas was selected to be included in the Society of Illustrators' Spectrum 2014 exhibit in New York City. The exhibit features the best science fiction and fantasy original art from around the world. Approximately 150 pieces were selected from Spectrum Art Annual 16-20 from all categories and media, featuring works created by legends in the field and those of exceptionally talented newcomers. The exhibit will run from September 3rd to October 18th, 2014. An opening reception will be held on Friday, September 12th at The Museum of American Illustration located at:

Casting Sorceress in Bronze Part 1
In the above video, the Sorceress Sculpture is being cast in 2600 degree Fahrenheit Bronze.
In this video, the Sorceress is being chipped out of its mold. This is just the base and cape of the sculpture.
In this video, the rest of Sorceress is being chipped out of its mold.
In this video, the Sorceress Sculpture is being sandblasted to remove imperfections and to remove bits of the mold that weren't chipped away.
In this video, the sprues left over from casting are being cut off with a plasma torch.

Excellent display! Nice idea to use the Journal as a way to show off venues like shows and galleries. It's always nice to see other people's work out where people can see it!!
