Canadian Pacific GP38-2 stops for a classic roster shot before backing their train into Union Pacific's Belt Yard in Saint Paul, MN.

CP 4523 started out as the first production GP40X built in December 1977 and was put into the Union Pacific locomotive fleet as number 9000. Later she was renumbered UP 90 and finally 954 which she wore until retired by UP.

Thank you very much! I appreciate you taking the time out to leave a comment!

I do miss seeing them in the old Union Pacific paint though... At least it's better than being scrapped!

Thanks buddy!

I think it's funny how I chased these UP GP40X's back in Colorado and Nebraska and three of them ended up on CP rebuilt as GP38-2's and followed me back to MN when I moved here. I guess they missed me! The only irritating part is that they have eluded me for quite a while and it's just been recently that I've finally snagged some good shots of them. Anyway, it's always good to see some old friends even if they look and sound a bit different.

Very true, D! At least you got them even if it does take time! Some times time itself allows anything to happen!
