When One World Goes To Sleep...Another Awakens by DDL-Photography When One World Goes To Sleep...Another Awakens by DDL-Photography
August 9, 2012

Standing high on a bluff, we see the Saint Paul, Minnesota skyline come to life reflecting off the mighty Mississippi as the day fades into night. Below me a double stack train waits for clearance to continue south while another train streaks into view.

That's a great shot there. I'd like the way it turned out in B&W.

Thank you very much Greg! It was a last minute decision to turn it into a B&W and I'm glad I did.

When I lived in St. Paul I walked my dog there everyday. That hill is quite a challenge.

Wow. That would be a beautiful walk to do everyday! Yeah, that is quite a hill, but a good work out!

That's a lot better than I can achieve. No matter how hard I work out, the best I can do is buns of cinnamon :-?

Thank you!

It's one of those shots I've had bouncing around in my head that I should have kicked myself in the rear sooner and just got it done!

I'm looking forward to going back and shooting it in different seasons and my main goal is to someday get a storm coming in with some lightning behind the skyline!

Thanks again,

Darin

Thank you!

I had actually planned to post this as the original color shot, but the state capital building off to the right is heavily lighted up and there is no way to shoot the whole scene without it blowing out all the details. So, I converted over to black and white and now it's not the only glowing white object!
