Destiny Armour Contest

That’s right boys and girls, its contest time again! Now the festive season is becoming a distant memory it’s time to move on and get past our New Year hang over. We promised you something unique and we hope we can deliver.

Our good friend MasterChief2Zero masterchief2zero.deviantart.co… recently commissioned himself a one of a kind armour set that he has been kind enough to offer as a prize to the members of DCC. I’ve been helping with the beta testing of the item and I can promise you that it is AWESOME! The item is now complete and ready to be used and now also includes a whole bunch of material shaders from the awesome DAZ brokered artist Fisty! Originally the armour set was going to be offered to a very small number of people including the winners of this contest, meaning only a small handful of people would have this awesome and unique item in their toy box. Recent occurrences have meant that the armour is now going to be offered to a larger number of people as a purchased item where ALL the money made from sales is going to be donated to our good friend Ann0134 ann0314.deviantart.com/ who I am sure you all know is one of the wonderful people who made huge donations to DCCmas on several occasions. She still continued to help make out list grow even after we had announced the contest!

Ann is a very hard working lady who always has time to help people out when she can, produces amazing products that I am sure many of us have enjoyed using at some point and is a very active part of the community in our shared hobby of the DAZ and Poser universe. Recently her parents have undergone the very stressful situation of losing their home and many irreplaceable treasured possessions that are easily consumed in the process of a house fire including their three pets. Ann is in the process of trying to do all she can to try and raise some money for her parents while they deal with the aftermath of their terrible situation. People have been donating content and products to a collection where any sales made will all go towards helping Ann’s parents in a time where they really need it. MasterCheif2Zero has offered his armour to Ann’s collection as well as to us at DCC so I’ve had to re-think this contest a little as well in the hope that we can also help our wonderful friend Ann.

We also want to ask our members to consider donating some money to this contest if they can as all the value of the GC’s for this contest will be going to Ann’s fund for her parents. There are many members in our group who have some lovely new sparkly toys to play with thanks to Ann’s generosity with DCCmas so I am going to be a swine and play the guilt trip card and remind a lot of people that things that go on in this group come from the pockets of myself, the admins and our friends. We don’t do it for any hidden agenda other than the fact we enjoy doing so and as a way to encourage people to try new things and give people a nice place to come and share a few laughs and great art work with each other. We’ve had a good first 7 months so far and I am pleading with you our members to please help us in our attempts at providing what little we can in aid of a wonderful person. Every little penny will help and we don’t care how small the offer is, it will all make a big difference to people who are currently in the process of trying to put their lives back together after losing everything, Maybe you were going to buy yourself some new content this week, or treat yourself to an extra bottle of wine while you were at the supermarket. Why not think about using that money to help out people who really need a life in their spirits and emotions.

So as you can see, this contest now has a little more to it than just being another contest for you guys to yet again make us work like dogs for you to enjoy some creative inspiration and win cool stuff. It’s a chance for us all as a group to try and lift some spirits and help others when the need it most. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the contest.

We have two sets of the armour up for grabs along with a $15 GC for both winners. The GC’s will either be for Art Collaboration items or for products in Ann’s product donation list, that still needs to be finalised as obviously some of her products are available through the DAZ market place but she does also have her own market place where items could come from so bare with me while I sort that with her and report back to you all.

As there are two copies of the armour up for grabs we are going to have two themes to this contest to enable more people to join in. The themes are an Anime/Manga one and also a Mecha/Robot theme. The only limitation is that your image needs to contain items or notions from one of these topics. Both of these subjects can carry over into things like a fantasy setting especially something like a Steam Punk robot to fit with the Mecha theme, or maybe something more of an ancient Samurai Anime feel to fit with Manga. It is hopefully wide open and should allow you a little freedom and of course it’s up to you how you interpret these themes and subject matters in your work.

You will be allowed two entries, one for each subject and all the other usual contest rules apply but I am going to open this one up too ALL render engines and software to hopefully increase participation even though we tried this at DCCmas at the request of many people who then never bothered to enter the contest they had been asking us to hold (DCCmas’s Naughty Or Nice contest). If those same people do not participate again after being given another chance to do so it will simply be the last time this happens and we will only be Studio and Poser based in our contests as we always have been. Sorry to be a meanie in that way, but I am not bending over backwards anymore for people who ask for us to do things and then repay us by not even taking advantage of the hard work we have put in for them. Other than that it is normal contest rules and we will be wrapping up on Sunday 4th of March which gives a full month to get your two entries in to the contest folder.

We are busy working away on some renders of the armour using the new material settings from Fisty, so for now cast your eyes at these links to see the armour in its Beta testing phase and expect to see more images coming through the group in the next week showing Fisty’s hard work and a texture set I am also working on for use with the set.
